SP model with fully adjustable front and rear suspension, dry clutch, Magtek wheels, limited production run of 1,500 units and the final year for Rothmans colors.
Drooling Drooling

https://www.bikedirectbristol.co.uk/stock/608035/608035.html

Wet Weight: 156kg, 40bhp as standard, tunable to up to 75 if you throw some serious wedge at it, 50-60 without too much hassle at all

Smartcard ignition!

From NSR250 Website

"1994 also saw the return of the Rothmans colored NSR's for the SP models only. "

"The price was a whopping 800,000 Yen for them and only 1,500 SP bikes were built by Honda. This was to be the last year for Rothmans colored NSR's ever. Today finding a Rothmans SP is quite rare and expensive due to there limited numbers."

saw this a few weeks ago, and initially thought, oh thats nice

but been seriously considering being silly over the past week and just getting it, it is the dream bike Cool and its not silly money, only 1500 made Drooling

but there is that small niggle that, i should probly be sensible, and boring, as usual Neutral

what dya reckon?

It looks nice apart from the headlight, I'd be expecting alot more than 40BHP for that kinda dosh.

Really Goosey, we've been over this a few times now. Well at least once.

Do it man, go, buy, smile, keep for ever. Or until its worth lots more.

Smart card ignition. Name something cooler.

Stop procrastinating. If it's seriously a dream bike, and you're in a position to buy it then just do it. Not exactly a common thing to see for sale. I hate Honda, and even I'll say that looks like a nice little bike. I'm a sucker for gadgets though, hence a keycard ignition on the GPz.

/sensible mode
If it's that limited a run then it's unlikely to depreciate much if at all, so even from an investment viewpoint then you're unlikely to lose much, if you'll be riding it much though then consider spares/repairs problems. Also consider insurance costs.
/sensible mode.

That really is stunning but you could get a second hand Ducati for that cash.

Insurance would be outrageous if it is that rare. Imagine binning it! You'd cry for a month. Shocked

But if it's your dream bike then stop bitching and buy it. Wink

Yep, a piss yesterday when I was stuck in traffic on the M4. It got so bad that a half full bottle of evian was looking like an extremely feasible and attractive 'outlet option' Confused

It's not a smartcard. It's basically a PCB with a socket, plug card into socket and it completes the circuit. Bought it about 10 years back from a random little car place in Reading. Somewhere around Caversham bridge I think.

To get this derestricted you need a new card, cdi, wiring loom and pipes only available from HRC in Japan. On the good side they were supplied for free as long as the country of origin allowed full power use which the UK did.

I would only buy it if I could get a parts fiche and the derestriction parts otherwise your never going to get clutch spares and decent power. Derestricted it should give around 60-65bhp.

I saw one of these on Saturday and now I want one.
https://www2.wbs.ne.jp/~a-ishino/my-cars/sdr200.jpg

Yamaha SDR 200. 200cc 2-stroke single, liquid cooled, YPVS. Single seat.

I do not have anywhere to keep one though and it would be criminal to let it go rusty outside my house.

surprisingly, parts dont seem to be an issue with these bikes

these guys https://www.apexleisure.co.uk/nsr.htm can supply absolutely everything for these bikes, OE parts, HRC parts, and aftermarket parts Thumbs Up

yeh, there is quite a cool way of doing it "Simply remove the Smartcard and pull the yellow lever and the steering lock is put on. Putting the Smartcard back in turns off the steering lock automatically. "

G made a point earlier, about it being a good bike for a mantelpiece, but not so good for riding, cos you would constantly be worrying about binning it Confused think that has hit the nail on the head unfortunately

im gonna think this over during the week, and might go and look at it next weekend, dont reckon i will see many more opportunities to grab one of them, so definately requires some thought

I don't use steering locks anyway. The little shits just boot the fuck out of your bar end until they break it (which doesn't take long) then you need a new bar, switchgear, master cylinder, mirror and plastics in addition to any other damage if it turns up again.

With the full power card isnt it 70ish bhp?, and the lights or indicators or anything dont work, im guessing its just for race use only.
