I have just changed from riding a Yamaha Majesty 400 to a Suzuki 600 Bandit. I had it three days and local kids chipped paintwork with a BB Gun and tonight they threw a balloon filled with water, but luckily it missed. They never did anything to the scooter so I assume it is jealousy or something! Bike is in our rear garden and has a canvas cover, but it still got chipped. As we spent all we had on the bike, and our shed is too small, I was wondering if those covers that are similar to a tent would be any good, but am worried that it would be too light in strong winds. Does anyone know if they are any good or any other CHEAP remedy to my problem?

This maybe a bit extreme but do you have an old duvet you can put under the cover to cushion the blow from the pellets,
an even cheaper option would be to find the fcukers and string them up by the ball, but this may end you costing you 15-20 at HM pleasure!

Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind to do something drastic, but I have a very good idea who did it, one of 4 kids all about 8 to 10 years old. However the duvet cover idea is great as I have an old cover from a sun lounger that I can easily put along the side they can attack from!! Thanks for a great idea!! Smile

Either that have a word with their parents and say to them if you catch them chippin your paintwork they will have to pay for repairs to the bike, otherwise the Police will be involved.

So hopefully they'll give their own kids a good thrashing and worn them never to do it again or else!

I warned one kid who was there when the BB gun (but didn't have a gun) was fired that I would get the police involved, only to have the balloon thrown tonight. I have no proof it was the same kids and so I have to give the benefit of the doubt, but I will be spending time watching from an upstairs window as I know when they are usually out the back. Another neighbour will be going with me to tackle the parents as his mother's car was attacked by a BB gun a few days earlier. I just want to be sure before I blame a kid!

Have a digi camera handy nearby your window and if you spot them shooting then take a snap for proof !

If you catch one of them again, point out that he's the one you've caught and that if the problems don't stop you'll be holding him responsible as you've already caught him. If you're able to take a photo of them doing whatever it is you catch them doing then so much the better or if not just a photo of them could be useful.

With any luck that kid then will have a fairly big interest in making sure that people don't continue fucking around with your bike. If it doesn't then you've already got the photo taken previously and so can go to the cops.

And make sure you tell the parents that they're legally responsible for their children and can be held liable for any tortious damage they cause.

Or if it's a real problem, you could take out an anti-social behavioural order against them, and the next time the kids do anything, off the parents go to prison! Laughing Laughing

Or you could sue (or threaten to) the parents under the Protection from Harrassment Act 1997 so long as there has been more than one separate incident.

Or if you're feeling REALLY mean, do all of the above!!! Rolling Eyes

Yup, just try and approach the parents at first, with camera proof if possible (some jsut won't accept their little terrors are anything but little angels Rolling Eyes )

Good luck with it. And if all else fails.

Get a BB gun yourself. I recommend this one Wink

Next time you see them with it, call the police. Say there are some people with a gun walking around and while it could be a toy, you are worried its a real one. Chances are, an armed responce unit will be round within minutes.

Being arrested at gun point and having their gun confiscated might make them think twice about doing it again Smile

Go and talk to the parents and take with you a bill/estimate for the repairs and ask them to pay up.

Failing that stopping the attacks go with the ASBO and threatened civil action.

But given the opportunity seize the gun of the kids next time you see them with it and tell them to get it back there parents are going to have to pay for the damages to your bike or you will destroy the gun.

P.S I thought you had to be at least 16 to use an air gun so calling the police when you see them with it isn’t such a bad idea especially after the deaths from air guns in the news recently.

Exactly, that is why I am trying to sort it so that there are no future problems, even if it costs me some extra money.. They are not bad kids individually and I am mystified why they have suddenly started, but I think a layabout of 21 year old may be behind and encouraging them! I have had a running battle over noise with him, but I can never prove it, so I would only come to a dead end trying to implicate him, if indeed he is behind it!

So I need a peaceful solution, but cheap, I will maybe get a shed or bike garage in the future, but that is impossible for quite some time!! (Got to buy protective clothing for myself at weekend)

I laughed at all the various violent suggestions and the weapon, it would solve a problem, but I think I would very quickly here a knock at my door and see a blue uniform. However it cheered me up and lightened the problem. I will give those suggestions a miss, thanks all the same!! LOL!!

Just nail that fucker with a bb gun first & then go after the kids. I had some dipshit keep sitting on my bike when I lived in London many years ago.. & I lived on the 15th floor of a tower block. Caught the fucker one day & the 3rd shot from the balcony got him right on top of his head (the 1st hit the railings next to the bike & the 2nd hit the damn gastank....) No more problems after that for some reason Smile

get a load of them exploding pens:

https://partysales.co.uk/catalog/images/explodingpen.JPG

one end in the ground one end attached to some string which is attached to the canvas, then the next time a water balloon gets lobbed at the bike and maybe the bb gun it forces the exploding pens to go off!!

have the pens under the canvas sheeting so it looks like the bike has exploded scare the crap out off umm thinking they've blown up your bike somehow (fake security camera hovering over it may help too, or better yet a real one so we can see them turd themselves). If they see the pens their just gonna throw stuff at the bike to set it off so have it under the canvas, also make sure it's not a windy spot Twisted Evil

thats not a bad idea for bike chains come to think about it!! Shocked bike chains are heavier so you dont have a problem with wind setting it off, just run the chain under the seat or in the frame somewhere and have the exploding pen easily detacheable (piece of string would do it)

it'll make them lose their nurve even if they work out what it was.

Sad Sad shoosh sam
