Hi

It's almost time to get rid of the over stretched chain and worn sprockets. I've not fitted one before but i'm quite happy getting my hands dirty and have fairly decent range of tools including workshop manual. I have a number of questions :

1) How difficult is the whole job of replacing the chain and sprockets on a 2002 hornet?

2) I don't have the rivetting tool yet. Does the tool also work as a chain breaker?

Any advice/horror stories would be greatly aprreciated.

Thanks

Mark

I done mine last year on the MZ.
It was quite straight forward, although I did get a loan of rivetting tool.

I used an angle grinder to cut off the old chain. The only problem I had with the whole job was that the chain was a link too long so had to remove that.

Its a pretty straight forward job to do.

I just bought a riveting tool. Cost 45 quid. To break chain I just put one of those Dremmel type grinding bits in my cordless drill and ground the heads of the chain link. Simple. Hardest part was getting nut off front sprocket but doen it eventually with sweat blood, tears and a length of four by two in the rear spokes
