Hi Guys,

How well do these bikes take the 33bhp restriction? Would you recommend it as a first big bike at all?
Love the look of them and have been reading all the threads relating to them and everyone seems to think they are a good all-round bike.

I think this is a great 1st big bike, nothing too mad to get you into trouble. I'm not sure what the restriction will do to it, but it's an easy going bike. Try and get a test ride before you buy.
Personally I think it looks OK compared to some of the shell suit style stuff out there and is better built than a lot of other bikes of that age.

I had my Thundercat restricted and it ran fine, it feels almost the same until you get above 6k revs; tank range is reduced by about 15-20miles (to be expected though).

Great bike overall, very underrated by many people which is why the prices are so low, great for us huh? Laughing

do it... that was my first bike and can't go wrong with them....
only sold it 9 months later as i couldn't keep up with my mates on r6's but i did rack up 10k on it in that time...

are they restricted in the carb inlets or at the throttle

fantastic bikes for the low prices they go for in my opinion

would one test ride on one be enough to identify a problem with the gear box?

Yeah the gear box problem will be obvious but they do tend to have a fairly long movment for upshifts (not massive) but it's easy not to lift it enough to the next gear.

Make sure you give it a good positive lift, mind it's like any bike really to be honest yuo'll get used to it. If it's not selecting well or feels rough make sure it's not the clutch that needs adjusting cos some ppl get mixed up thinking the gear box has gone funny and the gear selections have got harder and rough but all thats happened is the clutch cable adjuster has come loose and adjusted it'self (happen to me today Embarassed

What I meant Pauly was that the cat (not all) suffers from a dodgy 2nd gear. best way to test it is red line it in 2nd, if it jumps out it is knackered, cheapest repair is a new engine.
