When i first got my Piaggio NRG it used to tick over fine but now when i first start it up its ok but when i go abit, say five mins, then stop the revs just go down n then it just cuts out! Is it the cold or something? It has just been serviced, has he missed something big?!?

Its easily adjusted, Idle screw on the carb would sort it out. But it is probably just down to the cold.

Could it be that it is set too rich or the choke is sticking on?

As when the bike warms, the mixture will get richer (methinks)

Im no expert, just a thought.

Thats what i meant. Doh! , as it warms it gets richer, and it struggles to tick over, just when you put a choke on a bike when it is warm, mine cuts out. Shocked

I would say the tickover needs adjusting. It is not unknown for the tickover screw to have fell out completely though, you may need a new one.

A lad at work had the same problem, checked the plug and it was fouled. Cleaned it up and it was better, I put a new one in and it cured it completely. Its worth checking the plug before farting about with the Idle screw.

i was about to say for the sake of £3 and 5mins change the plug and put a fresh one in i bet that solves the problem

if not then the idle might be too low or the choke sticking on but change the plug first as 99% gona be that

Solution:

I eventually took it to a garage and got the carb checked for muck, apparently there was a lot!
This was the cause of the problem.
Now it's workin great!

Thank you to everyone who tried 2 help!!! Very Happy Thumbs Up

Thought i'd add this incase anyone else has a similar problem!
