Hey.

I Just passed my CBT and am looking for a Yamaha SR125 or Honda CG 125 (Although i would prefer a Yamaha SR 125). I live in Birmingham so if anyone wants to sell a Yamaha SR125 or a CG125 between £500-£900 (depending on condition) then please contact me. I could pick up within 25-30 miles of Birmingham.

Thanks.

Ben

I can vouch for this one, allthough its in newcastle delivary companies can easily delivar it cheaply!

This bike used to be mine was never a training school bike and allways kept in good condition my myself, I sold it to chris In december after passing my test on it. Now chris has passed his test he wants a bigger bike.

Seriosly man, Its a cracking little bike!

I think I've seen this one on E-Bay. How much do you think delivery would cost? I still need to get quite a bit of cash together first unless i can coax my parents into lending me the money. My top price limit is £900 and from the pics it does look in good condition.

If i can borrow some cash off my parents, would you accept 900 for it with delivery? As i've said that's my top limit, anything higher than that then im looking at months of repayment and possibly a firm no from my parents.

If that's cool with you then i'll have a word with mom and dad, and try to losen their purse strings.

Thanks

Ben

If you do a search on eBay for "delivery" and filter it down to motorcycles, you will get the following:
https://search.ebay.co.uk/delivery_Motorcycles_W0QQcatrefZC2QQfromZR40QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsacatZ422QQsojsZ1

It seems to be about £100 for delivery, and since no-one has bid on the bike yet, you could get it for £895 all in.

I don't want to end the auction early, as there may be a millionaire who has his sights set on it and is waiting until the last minute Laughing , but let me assure you that it is a really good bike for the money. I have been using it a lot in the last couple of days (making the most of the nice weather) and will be sorry to see it go - but a big bike is calling!

That sounds like a really good deal...I hope my parents agree.
I already dipped into my University Savings to get my gear. I have an insurance quote for £370 which i've also already got cash sorted for.

the only problem was the bike. If i saved for it using my wages (im a poor student you see), then id be waiting until the start of August to get a bike even though id have everything already sorted. I was hoping to go for my A2 licence in July and wanted to get practice in before hand and take my test on my own bike.

Ill talk to my parents and see what they say, hopefully you should hear from me in the next few hours. (Itll be a more interesting debate than a political one anyway)

Cheerz dude.

Ben

Ok ive been talking to my parents about it. the only problem they have is the fact that we can't actually see it. My dad wants to know if the engine is sound and what it sounds like and whether it starts to pull in all gears (and then dies in the higher ones).

Is there any chance you could send me high res photos of the engine, exhaust, front and rear suspension. I know this is going out on a limb here but would it be possible to get a video clip or something like that of the engine being started and moved off in the different gears?

If i can convince them that its sound then they seem ok with the idea.

I can sort out photos sometime over the next few days, but I don't have access to a video camera.

The engine itself is sound. It's a bulletproof engine, which is why a lot of the bike schools use the SR. I've never had a problem with it, and it has always started first time. I'm not sure what you mean by "whether it starts to pull in all gears" though?

Sorry to ruin your thread but im selling mine too.
Admittidly it wont be as great as the one above, but it runs fine, starts everytime and ive just passed my test on it.

Given a wash and a little polish on the engine it comes up really nice. No problems.

Originally i was looking for about 600, but i think this is a little steep. It has a years tax and i will put on a years MOT so i reckon 550 is fair?

I learnt on a CG125 with drum brakes and theyre not all that bad in my opinion but then again i dont know otherwise as thats the only bike ive ever ridden.

what i mean about it pulling in the gears is this:
switch into first and bring it to the biting point to see if it starts to move off and repeat for all of them making sure the higher end gears make the engine stall. Its just what my instructor told me to look for as well as oil on the suspension etc.

Im liking the look of both bikes but it all depends in the end on how close they are to me. My parents wont be satisfied until my dad has actually seen the bike and have seen it running.

Is it Newcastle on Tyne? or Newcastle Under Lyme, Dance Like A Monkey?
And Proximity, where abouts are you located? If it's closer to Birmingham then you got yourself a deal as long as my parents agree.

Thanks
Ben

I'm from Newcastle upon Tyne. If you decide to go for the other bike can you let me know please, so I can re-list it if I need to?

Proximity is in Darlington (that's about 50 miles closer to you).

Cheers!

Im something like 40 miles south of dancelikeamonkey. However thats still too far away, so i dunno.
The gears thing is wierd but whatever. It pulls in first and second. The others will make it stall if you let the clutch out too fast but you can slip it. This will be the same for most bikes so im not sure what you are looking for, unless your trying to see if the clutch is slipping?

I havent yet picked up my new bike so im basing this on if my new bike is good!
