 |
|
What i thought originally was a horribly out of adjustment exhaust valve (did them all, vast improvement, i'd be supprised if they have been done within the last few years ) slight clicking on acceleration and more on deceleration is still there, in fact its louder than before i think (might be my imagination, though going down its definitely is), it sounds similar to a popping exhaust, does it at the same time but its more of a clicky noise than a pop, a high frequency pop.. if that is making any sense?
Is there any easy way to locate an exhaust hole? stuffing rag into the pipes doesn't do much to slow the engine, it chugs along quite happily.. so i'm assuming air is getting in/out somewhere it shouldn't be
What else could it be apart from that? is it time to flex the debit card and get the tissues? (again ) ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Thanks for the replys...
Its an 87 transalp (600cc V)
Well i think i have found a hole in the exhuast, its a tiny tiny crack arround the welding of a bolt duno if thats it but it seems to be the best guess at the moment..
I was wondering if solder could be used to reweld it? (the crack is barely noticeable, a mate noticed it) I think i'm going to use this excuse to get a new rot resistant exhaust but in the menatime would it fix it? i'd like to be able to sell the exhaust off too so might get it rewelded properly when i have time.. ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

The exhaust is near rotted to death on mine. When i was taking the pipes off for a clean up and paint the front downpipe had been bodged up before and snapped when i was removing them, So welded a section from a different pipe into the front downpipe and the joint between the downpipes and the tailpipe was knackered so sorted that out. Oh not to mention the pinholes all over the tailpipe (those got filled too)
May invest in new downpipes and an aftermarket exhaust, or get stainless downpipes made up and find an alternative for the tailpipe ____________________ www.oldskoolsuzuki.info |

The laser pro duro exhaust is the one to go for, sounds absoloutely frickin brilliant... (theres a "legal" one as well which is also good )
The stock exhaust is well known for being... crap... i'm shocked how quickly mine has deteriorated! i'm thinking of takeing it off to spray it in high temp paint but expect it will fall appart if i do...
Downpipes can be made for £150 or so afaik..
After a new seat and a new screen these are next on the list for things to get
Somebody did reccomend takeing the whole system off and giveing it a real going over with bbq paint or similar to keep it rot free... ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |
