Came across this and thought I should share it with the newer bikers.

Low speed:

Counter steering: https://www.motorcycle.com/mo/mcnews/safe2.html

Braking:

Hope this helps.

Jesus, no wonder people get confused about counter steering, that sounds so complex !

I worried about counter steering, I think the descriptive words of apply downward pressure to the bar in the direction you are going worked for me, ie. if your going round a left hand bend, apply pressure to the left bar, and sink in your shoulder. Or something like that Confused don't really think about it now, but its given me the confidence to go round bends at proper speeds with confidence, instead of tootling round a perfectly respectable bend at 30 Neutral

Push right, go right. Push left, go left.

It made a big difference to me too, I was hopeless at corners before learning how to. Mind you, I still tend to brake too far before the corner and end up half way through it realising I could probably not have bothered throttling off at all...

Counter steering has saved my life at least once, best way I think is push right go right. Glad to see you found it useful.

Counter steering actually comes natural too most people, once they think about doing it, they can't. Smile

People do it without knowing but I don't think they use it fully untill they learn to practice it.

My uncle, who has been riding bikes a long time, told me the other week to use the Counter-steering method. I must say, it works very well and has helped me a ot so far, mainly on the Motorways where i am cornering and i get a slight cross-wind, i just push slightly on the bar and the bike dips into the corner and moves over to center of the road again Smile careful trying this if you are going slow though, doesn't work too well im told Razz
