These are the pics from the start of my new project TZR250.

Stupidly I didn't take any pics before I took the fairing off. But never mind.

all pics are in the folder www.gaz-racing.co.uk/bike/TZR/

Lovely stuff. I like the look of an un-faired TZR, really suits the bike in my opinion.

I could leave it naked. Saves me breaking them when I crash.

Indeed. There's a TZR250 on ebay at the moment, the reverse cylinders model. Looks absolutely gorgeous! Drooling

Looks like you've got your work cut out for you, Gaz. Once she's finished, she should be a beast though. TZR's = gorgeous machines.

I envy your ability to buy lots of cheap 2 strokers. Laughing

Whilst it's all nekkid have a look and see of there is somewhere you can mount crash bungs.

Some aty old fairins, sand paper and some spray pain and you could have yourself a really top bike!

People only want 2 stroke 250's for one thing, tracks! anything you can do to make it go faster or look better will really improve the resale value Thumbs Up

I've got the fairings, and they're pretty undamaged.

And good call about the bungs!!

Mine's a 2ma model. Today I've taken the carbs off, the footpegs, oil tank, radiator and the sidestand.

I had to drill out a few things, which I guess was to be expected with such a bike.

I'm loving it! more pics and stuff to come.

EDIT: Keith it's a shame the MZ runs, nothing to really be done to it, other than MOT and thrash it. Then it's down to race prepping it.Drop the engine out, give it and a large wad of cash to a tuner, strip all the road bits off, add a number and some clip ons, and I'll need some new tyres and knee sliders Cool which the XJ has kindly finished for me.

EDIT EDIT: That reverse cylinder model is nice, not eligable for the race series though, which is what I originally intended to use mine for. I wish I had underseat pipes, but my bike did come with some rather flash race pipes, which I can't wait to hear start up.

Today off came the carbs, sidestand, footpegs, gear lever, 2t oil tank, radiator, and best of all, the engine is now on my floor.

Now it's just a clean up the engine, paint it, get some matching spark plugs. Sort the dodgy HT leads. Plonk it back in, sort the electrics, and try and start it.

Got plenty done then. You're obviously a man who likes to get to work quite quickly. Thumbs Up

Was the engine in good nick when you bought it, as in all moving freely and not in need of a new crank/rebore?

Still, its looking pretty good. Just let us know what she sounds like when you get her going. Wink

Ok today the engine went back in, carbs are back on, air filters are back on. (now polished to a mirror finish).

Radiator is half on, just need to fix some of the wiring tomorrow, and she'll be ready to try and fire it up.

The engine turns over, so I'll assume it's good. And I really hope it is good, because once I've got it running, then I can really start making it look good, rather than the bodge it is at the moment.

I do like to work quickly, when I get an idea in my head, I go for it.
