Hi,

I have just fitted some new carbs to the GPZ, after suspecting that it was the old ones causing some problems.

However, now the new ones are fitted, the bike will not idle unless the choke is on full.

I have tried to adjust to the idle speed, but this has made no difference.

So what do I need to do to get it run properly? Also the new carbs have been cleaned professionally so it can't be that I hope.

TAI

Craig

Turn the idle screw clockwise to increase default idle speed and anti-clockwise to reduce the idle speed.

Since replacing the carbs were they synchronised and at the same time they would have adjusted your valve clearance and if so was this done? Also, have you checked for any leaks from the exhaust and to make sure the nuts holding the exhaust on at the engine are actually torqued on ?

While the engine is running try pouring some water mixed with some washing up liquid on where the downpipes connect to the muffler/collector to see if there is any air bubbles indicating leaks!

Have you also inspected the airfilter to see if it's clogged with crap and if so either replace it or clean it.
