im guessing standard means the old type batteries where you can unscrew the tops and fill them up with distilled water, compared to the new type sealed battery's which seal the acid in and you cant top it up.

There are also 'gel' batteries available that do not have liquid acid in them but a gel (hence the name). These need even less maintanence than normal batteries.

OK so i put the battery on charge with the standard setting as you can get into the acid on this one.

ordinary batteries must be put on charge with the plugs off due to the heath and vapor , you can control also the electrolyte level . so you can put them on charge at 15 to 20% of their capacity . with the sealed one you must charge them at maximum 10% of their capacity .
open ones can be put on quick charge , sealed one only on slow charge .
