I have a gold one. Got pulled with an irridium silver and nothing was said. True to admit it is not nice driving at night with it, especially if it is raining quite heavy. Neutral

I use mine a lot. Very useful.

Dangerous if you wear it in dark/gloomey/rainy/low light conditions, so use your head.

The idea is not to use them in the dark. Rolling Eyes Only in stong light and sunny conditions where glare and reflection may be a problem.

If it's sunny they won't do anything, if it's dark they wont be kind and rightly so.

I got my silver irridium a couple of days ago, i passed 2 lots of piglets today, 2 on bikes and 2 in a car, I gave the bikes a lovely winky nod and ignored the car.

TBH I'm such a scatter brain I didn't even think about the visor, the bike cops nodded back tho, maybe Stokie cops are as chilled as the rest of us.

Surely if you kept a legal visor under your seat or used one of those viser pouches, you could get away with it. Just say that the light was in your eyes and you couldnt see where you were going so switched to a higher shade visor. Its not like we can pull down a sun shade like in a car.
I think if you can show your not going to be wearing it at night, wou will get away with it.

^^^^^^^^
If they decide to stop you just because of the visor they really have nothing better to do. I've yet to read of anyone getting done for it.

I've been using a black visor for years, also got a blue iridium, and ride past a Police station every day to and from work. I've never had any problems from the bikes or cars, in fact I get the occasional nod or wave from some of the bikers.

As Mr C said, it's common sense really. I always carry my clear visor with me in a rucksack or a visor carrier, it only takes a few seconds to swap over.

If you do get pulled it's usually a £20 fine and no points, if I remember correctly. I suppose they could confiscate the visor if they so desired too, could possibly then do you for eye protection if you rode off without one. (or I could be talking b*llocks Wink )

if you are doing nothing else wrong then you are unlikely to be pulled for it

if you are pulled for somehting else and act like a twat expect it to be added to the sheet

common sense really, if you are pulled for anything - stop, kill engine, remove helmet, be polite, listen attentively, above all don't argue

and you may just get away with much more than a dodgy visor Wink

I've just got one, though I've yet to use it. North Wales police are the only force I've heard of for doing people for illegal visors Rolling Eyes

Is it legal for a pillion to have an irridium visor? Started thinking about it the other day when I was looking at visors for my girlfriend. Can't see why not, but just interested.

SAme advice: I wear one nearly every day in London but I always carry a clear one in the backpack. Shoei helmets are great, you can swap the visor in about 10 seconds. I'd rather keep my dark visor which is why I gave up on a small number plate and loud exhaust, they are more likely to make a fuss if you get pulled with all three!

Got an irridium visor as well. Use it all the time when its nice and just one my spare helmet with the clear visor when its cloudy. Never been pulled up (touch wood). If I know I am out on a big run and might get back late, I will take the clear one with me
