one of the MANY reason to get a motorbike

one of the nicest points has got to be, that nod you get from each other when you pass another biker on the road, i mean 8 times out of 10 you get it, unless its a stuck up rich boy riding his dads scooter or an old lady

do you guys get the same thing, or do i just live in a weird area where everyone likes each other

its even nicer that i get it considering i am a moped rider

i also get it, and give it to others,

once a rider say me riding by he was accelerating hard, he let go of the throttle and waved, he made all that effort just to say hi. Fukin hell!

I always nod to other bikers, whatever the bike (apart from scooters though).
A while ago I broke down on a motorway... Some bikers (in a car) stopped and eventually took me to some one who ended up using his trailer to take me & my bike home. This was about a 60 mile round trip for the bloke, who refused any kind of compensation. .. The majority of bikers are really nice poeple, though this was going way over and beyond what I'd expect.

I reackon u get more nods when you lose the L plates, think its also cos blokes dont recognise the model i ride, being an unfaired import. in Tunbridge Wells the postmen all ride step thru mopeds, I draw the line there, sorry-no nods. Wink

Yea, I often forget and nod to bikers when I'm riding my Mountain bike.

I gave a copper on a bike the nod once. Wont do it again though, he just looked at me for a sec then turned his head away...Ignortant fucker.

I always try to give the nod to other bikers but when your in a pretty popular area i lay off a bit aside from the neck cramp i'd be lookin more like a nodding dog than a biker

i guess us mopeds dont get as many nods

but oh well, its only a matter of time before Mrs NSR and me will be together :)

i was just out riding, i like riding at night cos the roads are quieter, and a bunch of 3 bikers pulled up behind me at the traffic lights, i got away first, and was first up to 30 mph but then i got rinsed completely and they sped off into the night

i want a little biker group to hang with, it must be wicked fun

do any of you guys have a little group you ride with?

I always nod, whatever the bike. Most of the time I get it back as well, unless its a rich boy whos just passed his DAS and then gone and bought an R1 with matching leathers cus hes seen bikes on tv.
bastards.
I always nod to coppers too, and most of em nod back.
Mond you, one of the coppers in my area is a REAl biker, complete with huge ginger beard. Score!

I passed loads of bikers today (going the other way, of course), but I was in a car...with my dear old mother...

...anyways, I "let" a brand new Duke (not sure about the model, didn't get a chance to see the side of it!) overtake me, but it was slow moving traffic on a windy road so he just ended up sitting in front of me for a little while, but he still had the courtesy of waving to me when he got passed...

...just my little contribution...

hi

I nod to every1 except scooters (soz scooter pple). I dont nod in highly populated biking area ie Box Hill becuase youd break your neck. Also if a car im behind moves over for me to overtake then ill always give them a wave so they'll do it for the next biker who come along.

Hey

I was still deciding whether to get a car or bike, and something happened today that really put me back into the idea of a bike.

I was stopped at a junction, and this bike came past (zzr600 I think) with a pillion. The rider nodded at me, and the pillion gave me the thumbs up. All that, and I ride a moped! If ppl are that friendly to moped riders, it must be great for real bikers - such a friendly attitude

I always wave if a driver lets me out or pulls in for me 2 get past. It nice to show a little gratitude.
Dunno bouy you but i always find that truckers pull over in traffic and stuff so i can get past em. Nice blokes really......

I always nod to skootz as well now, i do hate them(the skooters) but theyre still bikerz and you never know whos gonna be around when you need help.

I just seem to have an almost instinctive dislike of them.
I just feel that theyre somehow insulting 'real' bikes.
And a lot of riders that ive seen are wankers.
nowt personal tho. Unless ure one of the wankers, that is.

Do you really mean scoots?...or just mopeds?...I personally have a dislike for badly ridden 'peds, 'cos they usually ridden by inexperienced kids who have no sense of speed, and hence think that it makes sense to cut up cars etc...

When I took my CBT (the second day Embarassed ), there were a couple of kids learning to ride their brand-spanking-new mopeds as well...I went out on the road about 2 hours before them, but returned at about the same time (I was with a Pizza Hut 'ped, who had to ride for at least 4 hours)...and the instructor was close to a nervous breakdown!...but they still got their CBTs though...

There are true learners, but there are also true w@nkers out there...

Scooter, moped, the only diff is a louder noise from one.
Theyre of the same basic concept.
Dont like any of em.

the other day going down the main road i had a full on flash convo with a biker going the other way! it's in a biker area cos of Dobles, hein gerike and motorcycle city all in a line.
i pulled in so he could carry on filtering and gave him a lil flash as well. he flashed back, i flashed, he flashed and when close enough we both nodded at each other. put me in a strangely good mood all the way to croydon!

Well up until recently, when I turned 17, all I had was a 50cc Honda X*RX Scooter which went about 45mph. Now I have my NSR 125, not insured on it yet so I dunno if there's any difference in "nodding" now I am on a bike, as opposed to a scooter.

What I can say though, is when I was on my scooter I used to nod to bikers, and because most, nearly all bikers are friendly guys, they nod back, BUT it is the scooter rider who nods first. I think that now I am on my NSR 125 I will get people nodding at me sometimes before I nod at them. I nod at most bikers apart from the old harely riders and lambretta and vespa riders. Harley riders I don't seem to like, they just give me the image of old fat men, in leathers with tassles flying in the wind, then they go to the pub and meet up with all their other harley riders, and their dog rough mrs gets off the back, and they go in the pub have 6 pints of guiness and smoke a big fat cigar.

Lambretta and Vespa riders also piss me off. I used to nod to them but now I realise they don't nod back, and their scooters sould like a bag of nails, and god I hate those open faced lids!!

Erm...and thats it lol.

What you mean piss-pots? Lol, that's what everyone I know calls them anyhows - quite suitable I think! It's true about lorry drivers, they are cool when it comes to letting you past. The worst are the mumsy's round my area (you know the sort...who's got the biggest car for the shortest journey types) I find they try to drive down the white line if you are trying to get past! Grrrrr! I always make an effort to say thanks to people if they've let me past - and a special effort to those I've cut up! Hheheheh.
