my advice would be to get frame sliders if you dont have them, plastic can be expensive and sliders are cheap.

Hey matty.

Good choice of ride, RS' are fantastic bikes. Sold mine a few month back to fund a 600 but had good fun on it during my two stroke days. Plenty of power from the little screamer, but watch yourself while riding if you're new to the roads.

Also take care of the bike. Golden rules of owning an RS125: Run it on high quality oil & always warm it up to a decent temperature before its thrashed. Those basic tips will keep it going for a long time, problem free.

Also, is the power valve connected up?

Ride safe and enjoy it. Thumbs Up

Ye the power valve is connected up.
It also has a full arrows exhaust and is fully derestricted even though it shouldnt be but i bought it that way.

I will use good quility oil and i always warm it up even though it seems to take a while eg 10 minutes ant thats at about 50 degrees.

Yeah, they do tend to take a good while to warm up properly. You want it up to at least 60 before giving it a thrashing though, any lower and you're just looking for trouble. Best way is to let it idle til about 35 degrees then pull away, riding gently for a mile or so til it gets up to a decent temp.

My RS has a dodgy thermostat so it was constantly being cooled, never had chance to warm up, the winter months got very boring riding around at a beastly 60mph @ 5000rpm. Laughing

Yeah their cool little bikes, got one meself. What year is your one? Also would you recommend getting a sports-exhaust for one? Two minds whether to get one meself but not sure if they sound a bit shit and after a while the noise from it might p*ss me off Thinking

Ye i would deffo get a sports exhaust they sound better than the standard and look better.

Kieth- well if i let it idle with choke then it will idle for about a minute then go off, if i leave choke off then i have to keep it revved up to 2,000 revs with the throttle which is a bit of a bi*ch. Any ideas? Well its going in for a service next week so it might come out better than it is at the moment.

Was riding on a main road today when i ran out of petrol lol already on reserve so had to push it back home, good job it was only round the corner.

Got the same problem with my bike mate. Normal procedure I do when starting it is use the choke on full to get it going then when she starts up take the choke off after a few seconds and gently give it about 1-2 k revs every so often and wait till the temp gets to about 35 (as Keith says above). Then when I put her into 1st I'll just gently keep the revs on to stop it stalling. For the first mile or so I'll try and not let it idle as I find it can stall again.
