I'm currently on the lookout for a new pair of tyres for the ZZR. I've been using BT020s for as long as I care to think about, but this time round, my usual tyre source has an offer on Metzler M3s with a pair for £133 inc vat.
Now, what I want to know is - has anyone on here used M3s, and if so what are they like?
If everyone has crap opinions of them, then I shall pay the extra and get Bridgestones.

I await your valuable responses Very Happy

I've used both on all sorts of bikes.

Always been happy with Bridgestone, never been 100% happy with Metzlers.

Just my personal opinion! Thumbs Up

Thanks Sadie. I've been ringing around all the tyre places I can think of (well I am at work) and found that Busters will do me a pair of BT020s for £150 including delivery, so I think I shall go for them Smile

Being a skinflint I run Tomahawk T3s, ZR rated and 94 quid the pair delivered!

BT020s are good for mid weight bikes, they never felt right on my big old FJ1200 but never slipped or shocked me.

Avon Azaro-ST AV45/46s are competent and cheap, i ran them on the FJ1200 and my GSXR1100.

Ive never had radial metzellers, or dunlops. Ive had these in small commuter crossplies.

If you want give the bt-056 a try. I had them on my ZZR and they were great.

I have to say I find the 020s to be very good on the ZZR1200, certainly not what I'd call a mid-weight bike, so I'm surprised they didn't feel right on your FJ. Ar you sure you had the right model - there are about 8 different types of 120/70ZR17, so you need the right one for your bike. I did look at the AV45/46s, but they were only £5 cheeper, so I will probably go with what I know.

Slight hi-jack. Got 020's on my 400 can't say I like them in the wet especially the front. Could I put a 10 on the front?

It always felt that the bike was squirming around for some reason, the were the correct load rating? I put on the Azaros and the bike was fine. Odd.

Yes, putting an 010 on the front with an 020 on the back is a very popular setup.

Running D207RR on front and rear of the ZZR1100, they transformed the handling. Done around 3k so far and still good life in them I'd say, despite having heard reports of how fast they'll deteriorate. Never tried the metzlers though, let us know how they go if you do go that way.

Went from 020 to these. As I said, it felt like a new machine.

I've used Metzler Sportecs on a 954 Blade, first time I've ever used Metzler and they were great tyres. Plenty of grip and feel, confidence inspiring in the wet, so if that's anything to go by I wouldn't hesitate to try any more of their range as and when.

Got to say unlike the Diablo Corsa's I'm running on the new Blade, I keep getting a really vague feeling from the rear and it seems like the bike overwhelms the tyre when I put the power down out of a corner or off an island. It's odd because I had standard Diablos on the last 954 and they were really good. Different bike different setup I suppose. They came as standard fitment and won't last very much longer so not too much bother.
