I actually managed to pass the full test today, against all odds!

First off, the instructor asked me at the training centre if I'd brought all my documents, which I had. After the pre-test sesseion, we made it to the test centre. Just before I'm about to enter the building (about 5 mins before the test was to start,) I realised I'd left the documents at the training centre Doh! So I get on the back of the instructors bike (a Deauville) and we leg it to the training centre. Damn that guy can ride! Get back and I'm about 5 minutes late, but the examiner let me take the test anyway and gave the instructor a bollocking Shifty

So it's going good until the emergency stop. I lock up both wheels momentarily (after getting them perfect an hour before,) but remember to release the pressure and reapply, so I halted without skidding. I thought I had failed from then on. Some of my concentration had gone from here, but I carried on without too much bother (just those little mistakes the instructor would have mentioned while training).

We get back into the little room where he tells me I passed. "I passed?" I aksed him. He replied with "Well did you want to fail?"

3 minor faults, two for having the handlebars over the line on a right turn, and one for moving away before an observation.

So I'm off to get the SV as soon as I have the funds, and have some new fun Twisted Evil

Good luck to Jon for tommorrow. If I can do it, you'll have no trouble. Thumbs Up

Great news, Mr. Fuzz. Thumbs Up

Great feeling when they say "well done, you've passed!" Very Happy

I too had thought I failed close to the start of the test. Going to overtake a bus which then pulls out on me. I figured I'd failed straight away but turned out to be a minor for observation. As someone said in another thread, its often a good thing to "think" you've failed for a particular reason then ride like you "dont really care," (as you would normally on the roads.)

Either way, congrats. Clapping

Also, best of luck on your test tomorrow, Jon. I'm sure you'll be fine. Just remember, its the bandit on the line! Very Happy

It strangely is. I spent most of the weekend either thinking it would be fairly easy, then thinking it would be hard. It's strange how small changes in situations can alter your perception. I'll explain:

Sunday, most of the training was on the car park (which I had not done on the 500 before, it had all been on the road.) I felt this was crucial to getting the control needed for the U-turn, and not being hesitant at junctions and roundabouts. So I felt very confident.

Monday, all road based, and loads of things to remember. Positioning, checks, keeping a saftey margin but not exaggerating movements. I pulled out of a junction on a dual carriageway in the right hand lane, and the instructor said "Fail, fail, fail." Left me less confident that day.

Today, instructors told me they teach to a higher level than needed for the test. Filled me with a little more confidence that if I missed a couple of minor things, I shouldn't worry. Then I find out a guy who took his test on his NSR failed at the last minute when pulling into the test centre! Apparently he had a lack of awareness and planning which lead to a serious fault. Not a good thing to hear right before you're due to be tested! Still, it reminded me to stay alert from when I started the engine to when I turned it off back at the test centre.

After all that you'd think I'd have a conclusive point, but I dont, so I'll leave it at that! Razz

consider yourself lucky, my instructor made me 5 minutes late on a car test and the examiner said that he wasn't going to do it, packed his things up and left the snotty mook. Had to pay for that too!!

Fuzz, I wouldn't rate anymore posts here - I believe they'll all be revoked when the karmabot catches up with them (too many in too short a space of time in one thread or something Confused )
