i've got a problem, my springs have got rust pitting, very minor surface rust obviously from tiny stones and gravel, I can get rid of it easily enough with some wire wool and if need be wet sand paper but I can't work out how I can protect it again once i've done all that. Theirs pitting on other things too like the handlebars and the headlamps but that's easy to do as it doesn't flex, I just use laquer over it once i'm finished. It's not gonna work on the springs is it (laquer)? just gonna crack.
I was thinking some car wax see if thats abit more flexible as that seals paintwork after you've compounded a car.

Could always use the inner tube trick as suggested by stinkwheel in this thread.

Buy some rubber gaiters, they don't look out of place on a CX. Either that or paint them matt black.

haven't seen a pick with them on a cx have you? might look alright that. Would a bike inner tube really fit over the springs?

Haven't seen a piccie, but I had them on my CX, and have them on my GT750. They look OK, honest. I don't see why more manufacturer don't fit them as standard.

Mountain bike inner tubes will fit, but it can be a bit of a squeeze.
