Not me before anyone worrys, witnessed one last night.

Basically a woman (which bears no reference) was turning right into her drive and a ped boy went round her and clipped the front of the car.

In this case the ped boy was well in the wrong. The woman was indicating and it was very obvious what she was doing. as she started to move he then started to come round her. Why he couldn't wait that 5 seconds for her to move enough I have no idea.
Anyway, he clipped the front and got sent up in the air (imagine a highside for how he came off) and hit the deck hard and because of where she was and where he hit her he actually ended up on the pavement on the other side of the road (thats how far she was into her move!) just in front of me.

Pulled over got out and the kid is screaming on the floor. Open his visor and tel him to lay still, ask if his neck feels ok etc and he says
"Yeah, but my wrists killing me"
I'd already looked him over at this point and seen that his wrist was mashed, very visibly broke with the bone poking out of line. So in my nice calming and reassuring voice tell him
"Yeah mate, youve broke your wrist, just calm down its not that serious just dont move and you'll be fine."

From doing my wrists in before I couldn't tell him at this point that the manipultation to get it back in line is going to kill.
By now I've had someone call an ambulance, and some other bird is with him on the floor after been told to keep him still and asked if he wanted anyone told about it and gave his mam a call.

With him sorted, picked his scooter up off the road and stood that out the way then turned my attention to the woman driver.

She seemed ok till I started talking to her (common when I talk to a woman that they start to panic anyway ). Basically she was in the process of going into shock, I just reassured her that the lad was ok apart from his wrist and she shouldn't worry. Luckily her husband was now on the scene so I could talk to him as anything that I would of said to the woman just wouldn't of went in. Gave him a business card with contact details on for me and said to give me a ring as I seen it all (as you do when you see a ped boy fly across the road direct in front of you).

So why am I telling you all this? Simply because I dont want to ever have to pick anyone I know up off the side of the road.
Patients my friends will keep you alive and safe.

Ride safe chaps, and dont have me saying what i said when I seen this accident to my friends in the car.
"He deserved that the little shit, suppose better go sort this out!"

It must be pretty harrowing witnessing an accident, let alone having to intervene. Sounds like you made a difference though mate .

I also agree that patience is a virtue, I know too many people who have yet to discover that.

I came across an RTA in New Malden a while back. A bloke in a subaru impreza lost lost it, collided with four other cars and imbedded it into the underpass wall.

I must have been about fifteen seconds behind it. The guy was drifting in and out of conciousness. The trouble was he was semi choking on his own spit.

I ended up sitting in the back of the subaru supporting his head so he didn't choke. I tell you, it was the longest wait for the ambulance crew I've ever had!

The ambulance crew turned up, and said "You alright mate?"

Yeah fine, lovely.......

Good on you Gav It's amazing how few people know how to cope or react when they see an incident/RTA and just panic or walk away.

By the by, on Saturday night I had a real 'mare - my father in law was rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack after a meal at a resturant. We rushed up there, and I brought his lady friend home - got to a set of lights and some drunk staggers out and decides to lie down in the middle of the road! . Needless to say I was in a hurry, but got out, made sure he was not injured and called the police - there were some impatient cars who tried to go round me, not aware of this idiot in the road and would have definitely run him over if I hadn't blocked their path. Fortunately the police arrived swiftly, picked him up and moved him to the side of the road. Gave my details and I was on my way.
