Cbr 600, threaded sump plug yadda yadda...

Anyway in the process of doing all that, we took off the zorsts, which took about an hour as they were so rusted on, and anyway asides from looking shit and very precarious, theres a ruddy hole in the downpipes were its plainly rusted through.

What would your suggestion be. What ive heard is, Get it shotblastsed (apparently like uber polishing), get a plate welded over any problem spots, spray with vht paint.

Im thinking of running with that, but anyone got any advice or experience in the matter? It looks like a shipwrecke the rust is so bad.

Could get a full system which includes downpipeshttps://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/GuyMiller/01systems1.jpg
if there as rusted as you say it may be a lost cause as you may have to do it again in a few weeks/months to another part

Well you could get it shot blasted & that would show up the rest of the holes. If it's that fecked though unfortunately the only solution is a new pipe my friend.

Its annoying as i just got a micron can for 112, when i could have got a full system off ebay for about 175. But alas, hindsight is a beautiful thing... Plus id have had to get it rejetted Rolling Eyes

Ebay does seem to have them for about 60-100 inc postage on there, secondhand, or 200 new... But id still like to shot and recondition too tbh, as taking the rad off is a mission. And i havent even tried getting the cunt back on yet. So it rusting apart in a few weeks would upset me.

I would go for a good condition set from ebay or breakers etc.

If the rot's set in then you're probably throwing good money after bad. Unless you can get this done for free, it may well start costing a similar price to a cheap set anyway.

Hi

Chances are you will have to get it rejetted to work perfectly with the race can. If you are happy with the flat spots then no reason not to just lob the complete system on. Both cases have a risk of it running stupidly lean at some revs.

Personally I would just clean the section of pipe up and get a patch welded over it. Cost should be tiny.

All the best

Keith

I would attack the rusty bits with an angle grinder/flapper wheel. If there was any actual metal left after that, I would get to work with the MIG welder and bits of scrap.

It would look a horrible mess of seagull shit welds and roughly hacked out patches by the time I was finished but a coat of paint hides a multitude of sins Very Happy
