Hey, recently had an accident with my drivetrain coming slack after a long journey and being so lose that it came off the sproket and marked and scratched the swinging arm and sproket on the way... anyways, I´ve had to adjust the chain about 4 times in the 2 months thta i´ve had it (admitadtly doing 5,000+ km), and was wondering whether its possible to get a 250 or 600 chain which´d be much bigger and hopefully last longer than the crap they keep shippin with 125s...

My dealer is getting hold of a "hyosung genuine" chain and sproket kit which´ll probably be the same as what came with it originally.

Apparently D.I.D are the way to go... but they dont exactly claim to be usable on 125´s

Anybody used a bigger chain on a 125, or doesn´t anybody else thrash em as much as I do :-p

Apparently a bigger (600) chain'd reduce overall power by about 10bhp... but you can get stronger chains...

My dad's had a FJ1100 for about 6-7 years now, never adjusted the chain and he accelerates so hard i lose feeling in my wrists holding onto the grab-rail... :-p

Hi

Chains come in loads of different sizes and strengths. And a stronger chain does not mean it would last longer.

5000km (3000 miles) for 4 adjustments means you are only doing so every 750 miles which is not bad. Personally I would expect a chain to last around 15000 miles (25000km) before it is out of adjustment in normal use.

To avoid adjusting the chain, keep it well lubed and consider getting an automatic chain oiling system (if legal where you live, they are not legal in Germany for example). O ring chains are better, but they still need oiling otherwise the O rings dry out and get damaged.

All the best

Keith
