Hi

Planning on buying a takachi tk 100 helmet. Anyone know anything about it? Is it good, bad?

Also i am planning on going to leeds from liverpool at some point next month. I have a RS125. It will be about a 150 mile odd round trip. Got any suggestions? will the bike cope with 70 mph constantly for 1 and a half hours or will it die on me?!?

Thanks

Dan

I dont know anything about the helmet itself but the design stinks IMO. Thumbs Down
As for your 1 1/2 hours constant, i think you'll find that you personally would need 1 or 2 breaks Thumbs Up if youve not done that kind of distance before you might find it a bit uncomfortable your first time... breaking yourself in slowly Wink

Not great lids tbh, start life as 2 bits of plastic as apposed to the better helmets eg arai which are a net of composite fibre. Save the pennys, get and Arai. Tougher, longer lasting, better looking.

All the lids pass the same safety standards and tests. IMO, the fit is obviously most important, the build quality second, the amount of wind noise it keeps out third... the cost somewhere near the end. As with the rest of your kit, mostly buy the best you can afford. You might not necessarily get particularly better protection as they get more expensive, but the build quality usually improves.

(My £50 Nitro helmet had a stupid seam on the inside which gave me headaches, and the chin vent broke the first time I wore it. However, it stopped me getting killed or brain damaged just fine.)

If it fits fine -get it - the TK30's are apparently smashingly good budget helmets and many people ride with them Thumbs Up , But personally try all of them - look for construction and materials too. Might i suggest you try the BMF peterboro for cheap bargains?

I've got one, mine was a little tight to start with and gave me headaches, bu now after a few months its broken in and is alot more comfortable.

Its ACU gold standard so it's suitable for track days.

I really don't like the look of those vents/diffusers on top. Much better deals to be had out there. Especially on Ebay. Name brands, even!
