 |
|
Hi,
I am currently looking at this bike after reading stinkwheels thread on cheap eastern bloc 2 strokes:
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9931&item=4548833476&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
Do you think it's worth it? It's about 260 miles away from me so how would I get it to me? I'm thinking a cheap bike like this is the best way to go, plus I think they're rather cool!
Advice would be appreciated before I bid on it.
Tobyr

I just wanna know if it will be fucked or not.
Is there anyone in the Norwich area that I could pay for transporting it up/taking a look at it? I can't get down for a long time, I might just take a risk seeing that it will probably go for about 30 quid!
Toby
(PS: I plan to spray it all black, and polish everything else up, it will be win ) |

The old TS ones are pretty bomb proof. That one has been of fthe road for 13 years though!
If it turns over and you are mechanically minded you could probably fix it up, minimum of a top-end rebuild though as the piston rings will be stuck. There will be a variety of rusty electrical connections to sort out, the brakes will need stripping/de-rusting and most of the cycle parts will need stripping and the bearings replacing. The carb and oil pump (if fitted) will be gummed up and the inside of the tank will be full of shite.
I would pay up to 80 quid for it and expect to spend another 150 and a couple of weekends getting it running. You are taking a risk that there is a deeper problem such as knackered main bearings or blown crankcase seals after sitting for all that time which would be a full strip-down job, again do-able but you are committing to spending a lot of effort on it.
A better example will come up. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

I got my 1994 Suzuki RG125F for 300, and that was near enough a runner, just needs replacement powervalves, can be picked up second hand for under a 100 usually. But then again, how often do you see RGs going for 300 ____________________ Honda MBX50 | Yamaha RD125LC | Suzuki RG125F Lucky Strike | Suzuki GSF600S
