hey guys and gals.

i was in winchester on tuesday. parked in a car park (the same one i always park in), and parked in the same place i always park in... next to a wall out of the way of traffic.

and i got a parking ticket for "Not being in a parking space".

is there any way i can weedle my way out (the fines £60 or £30 for first 14 days).

can i tell them that i hard a visitor pass on my bike, and was not in a parking space as i was allowing more cars to go into the car park (thus them earning more money) but my visitor pass got nicked.

or say that if i had parked in a parking space, and displayed my visitor pass, then when the warden comes round.... my pass had been nicked (which it did Twisted Evil) then i would still of got a ticket for not displaying a parking ticket?

any other ideas?

thanks drummer!

I always wait 30 days then pay the £30. Never been chased up for the rest (out of about 5 tickets).

look up some grounds for appeal, my mate got one for parking on the pavement in the middle of glasgow but they let him off because it was on his tank or something. theres some funny rules and even if they stuck to them claim they didnt and say you want your day incourt, odds are they will back down since their guys are on commision and cant be trusted.

my dad received a parking ticket one christmas for not parking in a allocated parking space, he was not obstructing any other person/vehicle, never the less they gave him a ticket, he decided to fight it, basically the out come was not in his favor, the baliffs were sent to collect (he was not in) eventually he paid as it was at the stage where he was in a lose lose situation just because a traffic warden was being so anal, the fine at the end of the day was £100 so he sent them £99.20 plus the parking ticket,

its up to you how you tackle the situation at the end of the day its your time and money, you might get lucky and get off but then again you might not can you afford that extra few quid? if it comes to that situation? technically if you were in the wrong it would appear you may well be shafted,

For £30, I'd just send them the money!

The actual chances of getting a parking ticket squashed are very remote.

The only one chance you may have, is if "Parking in marked bays only" or something similar is specifically mentioned on the notice boards.

If it isn't, there is a small argument that you weren't to know and seeing that there has never been a ticket issued before would show that there may have been a change in policy, or a more eager traffic warden.

How was your bike secured?
I'm asking in case it was moved by some inconsiderate motorist wanting to park...if you get the drift...

Taking some photos may also help if you appeal - where you were parked (wide and close) and also any displayed notices (for the park only in bays as previously mentioned).

...so the bike could have been moved then (alarm should reset after x secs). So it could have gone from being correctly parked to incorrectly parked....if you get the drift....
