I know we are in general agreement that accidents are by and large not funny - but also, we accept that, on occasion, they are, and the one I saw on the wet and cold way home tonight falls squarely in to that category.

I was just edging round Highbury corner - lots of traffic - following this slightly sketchy looking dude on a honda of some sort, like a cross between a Honda Super Four and a CB500 (short stubby exhaust, looked oddly like a very neat custom).

So he was paddling his feet a lot, but looked at least vaguely competent. We pulled up at a set of lights, both at the line with me on the outside and him on the inside and a car between us. I was thinking about getting a fast gettaway because I was on the outside and about to turn off.

We look over and he gives me a large nod and revs a bit, so I'm thinking maybe he wants to race me, which, given it was wet, cold, and I was on the ER5 (ZX6R in the shop), I don't, so plan just to let him shoot off and tuck in behind.

As they go amber and sure enough, he gives it the berries. I guess he must have dumped the clutch too soon, because his back end started to snake. Then he shot forwards, and spun the bike through 90 degrees, high sided and was thrown clean off the bike, arms and legs flailing, and smashed into the pedestrian railings.

It was so comical I started pissing myself laughing, fairly confident he wasn't hurt. I parked the bike and went over to help him and the bike up. He was fine Thumbs Up and the bike just cosmetic Thumbs Up

Luckily he saw the funny side too, "Yeah man, classic, just totally lost control" he said.

Thumbs Up to him - cheered me up no end, and him I think.

First time I'd ever seen a high-side from standing start Mr. Green

Was sitting at some lights on the North Circular many years ago on a Kaw H2 750 triple, Guy pulls up next to me on an old CB500T & proceeds to rev the nads off it.. at which point his clutch cable snaps & the bike launches down the street on one wheel like a NASA moon shot.
He stood up & as the bike finally falls over in a heap about 100 yards away he looks at me all sad & bewildered as I say "ya want a lift to the scene of the crash mate?" Rolling Eyes
