Hi Guys...
Recieved an email this morning.. thought you North West guys might be interested.. Sounds like fun!
***********************
Dear Fellow Biking Enthusiast's
May I introduce myself. My name is Councillor John Coombes and I am the Leader of Fylde Borough Council, situated on the Fylde Coast between Preston and Blackpool. As a committed biker I would like to start an Authority backed weekly motorcycle meet in the Town Centre of St annes. St annes Square has undergone a massive investment which has improved parking and attracted many restaurants, pubs and cafe's to the centre of this little sea side resort. What it needs now is some activity on a Monday night! It is hoped that if this event becomes well supported we will be able to ask the many local traders to offer discounts on food and drink to visiting groups.
The run into Fylde whether from North, East or South has excellent road links combining Country Lanes, Dual Carriageways and Motorway (end of M55). Once you are here you can take advantage of all the above, plus, the sea front, promenade and the excellent trip up the prom to either Lytham or Blackpool.
I feel that the NW Coast needs another regular meet that could enable the Council to promote to it's traders the event. Many of you will have read about the Poole, Dorset, weekly event that regularly attracts over 1500 riders (MCN). This hopefully will lead to motorcycle organisations and dealers coming along also to promote biking. Now the crunch, I need as many of you to turn up on Monday the 13th June between 7pm and 9 pm and then every Monday. The meeting place will be the town centre car parks (free of charge) on St Annes Road West/jnc of Orchard St, The Square, St Annes on Sea, Lancs, FY8.
It would be appreciated if you could forward this e-mail onto anyone whom you consider would be interested. I shall also be asking for radio and press support to promote this meet. Hopefully if enough turn up it will give me the proof that this could be a regular, well supported event. Hope to see you next Monday the 13th.
Regards
John Coombes
