What is it with women, 4x4's and roundabouts that results in women losing control over their right foot? Yesterday, I came up to a large roundabout and was in the outside lane when a very small woman in a VERY BIG Toyota Landcruiser (with bullbars, how many buffalo live in Hertfordshire??) stopped as she should, looked at me then pulled straight out infront of me. Queue squealing rubber and puckered arsehole (it was a 40 zone and I was doing 40). Then she had the bloody cheek to give me the finger . Having had sodding eye contact I assumed she had recieved the message that a big 'ol diesel was chugging towards her. If I were on the bike, I probably would have shit it and stamped on the brakes and ended up under her fooking huge wheels (it was wet and Im a learner)
Does anyone else think that people who want to drive 4x4's should have to do a more difficult test to prove their skill is up to handling such a big, dangerous vehicle?

OK so maybe not ALL women are hell bent on running me down and maybe some women can drive (Vicky Butler-Henderson and the BCF Ladies)
Ive just been run down twice by women in 4x4's on the school run which really pisses me off .
sorry for any offence caused
BUT I still think that bullbars should be frikken banned. They greatly decrese the survivability of any crash. ____________________ Nothing spells bodge like wrincles in duct tape |

Bullbars are banned. I'm not sure of the exact legislation, but certainly after the end of this year they should not be on any vehicle on the road. How well enforced that will be is anyone's guess. My idea would be that traffic police won't give a monkey's unless they are doing them for speeding at the same time.
They should be an MOT item (bullbars fitted - fail), but that doesn't stop 4x4 owners pulling the same trick as people with race cans. The only difference is that the average Chelsea tractor owner won't be nearly as mechanically ept, so is less likely to do it.
Bullbars are going pretty much against every rule of pedestrian protection there is. I once heard an analogy. Being hit by a car (sub 30mph) is like being hit by Mike Tyson wearing boxing gloves. It hurts and could knock you out, but it isn't likely to do you huge damage really.
The alternative is being hit by Mike Tyson, with an iron bar. It causes excessively high point loadings, leading to multiple fractures. Pedestrians will not wrap around the bonnet either (creating distributed loading), but will be pinned to the front. The resulting skull fractures and head accelerations lead to hugely increased fatality rates.
The point of bull bars is to avoid any deformation of the vehicle body structure. The point of pedestrian protection is to allow deformation of all of the front of the car, including the bonnet, to allow for slower energy absorption, lower accelerations and fewer hard contacts.
Edit - Disclaimer: the legislation reference is again based on vehicle safety lecturers, from either Cranfield, Ford, the Crash Research Centre here, or from some body who should know. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

I nearly had an accident involving a women the other day, I was busy looking at her bum and didnt realise the bus infront of me had stopped
Managed to stop in time only to check my mirror and see another bloke in a car behind me staring at her arse too. He ended up bumping up the pavement to miss me
Man was she worth it though ____________________ 1991 Suzuki GSF 250 Bandit - 2001 Yamaha YZF R6 - 1998 Suzuki GSF 600 Bandit N |

All those saying about how bad bull bars are, aren't motorcycles really bad for injuries caused if a pedestrian is hit?
The wholse retesting every few years is a good idea at first but then to actual suggest taking people's license off them because they couldn't pass the DSA driving test is bollocks. I'd expect quite a lot of bikers would have problems with the U turn without putting a foot down, you'd be less than impressed if your license got taken just because of that!

Yeah bikes are really bad for crashing into peds with.....but then so is anything big, fast and metal.
My real gripe with bullbars is that they are totally unneccessary and dont enhance the driving experience, just make it more dangerous for the rest of us!! ____________________ Nothing spells bodge like wrincles in duct tape |
