Got a call from his mum today, with a direct number for him at the hospital, gave him a call.

Car pulled out on him from a car parking space, broken collarbone, broken vertibrae Shocked .

Police have taken the bike, he'll be in hospital for a few days, and will have to wear a spine board and a sling for a few months.

Here's the question, do you think his bike is likely to be thoroughly examined if you know what I mean...?

His ER-5 has probably seen much better days, although I havn't seen it, I suspect it'll never ride again.

It's funny how you think if you die nobody will ever know, it's amazing how quickly word spreads when there's an accident like this.

Ouch. Hope he's better soon, I'd expect that if he was being carried off to hospital in an ambulance then the police will have just taken the bike to a storage place, might be worth his parents or someone near him arranging for the bike to be collected soon (breakdown cover?) as they'll be charging him stupid amounts per day.

Just be aware those things are stupidly expensive to call. Neutral

Ouch, very nasty.

They may look over the bike to see if it could be attributed to his bike. However, of course, anything dodgy obviously happened in the crash Smile.
I doubt they will look for stuff not related to the crash.

Get well soon dude Thumbs Up.

Sorry to hear that...

...Mind you that's what you deserve for opening up a thread that sends the details of my sexlife to his E-mail address...

...Seriously though, I hope he recovers soon and gets back to riding again ASAP.

/Me waits for the "Oh god this is making me think about giving up biking, maybe i'll just stick to the track." posts.

A fella at work broke his back at a track day last year, he is now paralyzed from the neck down and will probabbly never walk again.

I would rekon they will examine the bike, as it sounds like a pretty big off.

Hopefully he will fully recover and sue the bastard that pulled out on him for all he/she is worth!

A guy i was with a rideout with died a few weeks back, and when people (non bikers) heard about it, all of a sudden 'Bikes are bad, Bikes are dangerous'.

My response?

You never say that when you hear of a multiple car accident on the motorway!

At the end of the day, we all know the risks, but by god its fun!

Not another!!! Sad So many accidents at the moment.

Please pass him my sympathy, and wish him a speedy recovery from me.

You've got to be careful guys!!

Oh, and I doubt it'd get that much of a thorough inspection. When i wrote off a car with my de-restricted ZXR before my 33bhp restriction was over, they didn't even check it!

As for checking the bike over...if he is considered to be at fault and his insurance company has to foot the bill they will go over it with a fine tooth comb......but then again it's a kwak so they might not bother Very Happy
Hope he's OK

Well I'm going up to see him in a couple of hours. I'll pass on your comments.

And yes, he got me with that damn emailing the sex life thing. Annoyed me to hell.

I'll try and get the bike back to mine, to make sure everthing...is...ok.
EDIT: Yes Ste, those lines are 39p a minute off peak 49p on. That's the least of my worries at the moment...

I was quite surprised that the police allowed me to recover my bike to home without a quibble.

Give my best wishes to the guy, and tell him I know how he feels! Rolling Eyes

Far too many people crashing.

I would have put Sadie as one of the least likely people to crash.

I've crashed in the last 2 weeks.
As has a guy I ride with, broken wrist, plates pins, wire, the works.
Paul, in hospital.
The owner of my local Heine Gericke, the bloke's a riding god, on the nicest R1 I've ever seen.
The local KTM rider binned it

This is beyond a joke! It's not even wet!
