I know it's different stokes for different folks and they're not all universally fitting but as I'm in the market for a new 'un I thought I'd canvass opinion on something that we all use day in day out.

So, What've you got? How much did it cost? What don't you like about it? What's best about it? and finally a mark out of 10.

Roof Daytona

https://www.customlids.co.uk/helmets/roof/daytona/daytona_blue.jpg

Price - £219 (nearly 2 years ago)

Dislike - Poor peripherary vision (in comparison to other helmets I've tried)

Like - Quiet

6.5/10

Mine is the Rx7RR and the other half has the quantum.

Cost .... Can't remember but mine wasn't cheap.

Likes ... Quality, safety, comfort, ease of visor change (20 seconds) and looks

Dislikes ..The Rx7RR is LOUD! Earplugs are a must!

Oh sorry about the flies but its Summer. Wink

Arai RX-7 Corsair
https://www.inspired-dreams.com/cbr/lid.jpg

Price: £350 show price

Like: Very comfy, great ventilation, pinlock system for locking visor, very light

Dislike: Great ventilation means rather noisy (earplugs!), pinlock system has a de-mist option which doesn't keep visor locked properly, brow vent broke once, chin curtain needed replacing due to removing eyebrow skin and drawing blood...

Rating: 9/10

Likes: Comfortable, Light and Colour! Cool

Dislikes: Velco bit has come unthreaded slightly so strap hangs down a bit and sticks to my jacket Mad

AGV V-flyer.

Price £130 reduced from £210 from Heine Gericke.

Like Top notch build quality, very comfortable and not too heavy. Good ventilation, though closed and open is just the same. The flip down chin visor thingy diverts the wind from your neck/ chin, reducing the cold and windnoise.

Dislike Too noisy, but I use earplugs anyway so it's not too bad. Visor is a pain in the arse to change until you get the knack and has easily breakable togs.

KBC VR-1 Euro

Cost: $215 brand new with two smoke visors and shipping included from www.ridegear.com

Great helmet. Much better than my old HJC's. Can't wait to get an Arai or an AGV, though.

That a Craft Steve? If so, expect it to be noisy mate. I had a Craft RX9 and got rid of it in the end 'cos it was so drafty my eyes watered with the visor down!!

AGV GP PRO

Price: 250 squid this time last year, I Bought it to replace a V Flyer I had before that did a great job protecting my head when I crashed.

Like: looks and build, also a very well fitting lid that is pretty comfy, though not as comfy as Shoei lids!

Dislike: Although quieter than my V-Flyer its could probably be a bit quieter. Although having said that all the vents can be closed and its the quietest sporty looking vented lid I have ever tried.

8/10

This is mine.

Its a Shark RS500, reason i brought it was cause of the colour, well its gotta match the bike! £100 but its a bit drafty around the forehead area. Gives me a headache on a long run.

I'd give it 7/10

Arai RV

Price £200

Dislike Vent squirts a thin blast of air directly up each nostril.

Like Excellent fit, even at speed. Handy 'demisting' clunky thing on the visor to make it stand away from the seal.
8/10

Bunderspolizei riot helmet

Price £25 from the army surplus stall.

Dislike Lifts up off your head at anything over 60mph. Not Kite marked ro road legal (not that I could give a sh1t)

Like Looks cool as feck. Thrown brick-proof, full face and neck covering polycarbonate face shield, kevlar shell.

6/10

HJC Snowmobile helmet

dislikes Not sure, haven't tried it out yet. Again not road legal in the UK.

likes Double glazed visor is in theory unfoggable, should have a high winter comfort factor.
