Taxed and MOT'ed till next january
Silver and blue (and red) 1987 model 38k
Bad points first (these are all the niggles i know of)..
Side panel secureing holes are weak and original bolt is gone, it is perfectly secure as it is.. it is better anyway (they have been overtightened at some point, you will see it makes no difference, infact it saves messing about as you can swing the panel out of the way).
Fan switch needs to be replaced (£10 breakers)... fan works 100% ok (and can prove it) switch screws in, job i have been leaveing till changeing coolant.
Exhaust gasket needs changeing at some point (4 included)
Water in plugs, cap has been replaced, 100% problem free now.
Good points
CDI units replaced 2 months ago. (£100 each)
New plugs (all four)
Has just had tappets adjusted and carb balance (pretty major job)
Engine is all good, no knocks, clunks or cruches.
All plastics are in good condition (appart from the formentioned)
BMW accessory socket ready to take any 12v gubbins you may want (heated gloves e.t.c.)
Wheel rims are 100% a-ok (first thing to go on badly kept transalps)
Tyres + chain are almost new (can't say for 100% but not many miles been put on them)
Tool kit (seems to be) complete
Hanynes (printed out) and honda factory manual + parts on cd
Handleing is excelent, will cope with anything thrown at it, it will keep up with averagely ridden sports bikes, track days might be a different matter (allthough they were released with the sports bikes at the time and kept up with them no fuss whatsoever arround suzuka).
Enough power to scare yourself or just take you and our passenger arround europe/as far as you want
It would make an excelent first bike, very easy to handle, especially arround town and in car parks e.t.c. smooth power delivery, good brakes... lots of bike for your money.
Fuel economy is good too, 140miles till you get to reserve and i put £11 in to refill from 140 miles worth, at a push i'd say a full tank will get you 160 miles...
Why i am selling it? - I have been looking for another cx500, it suits me better, lower seat + more laid back (as close to haveing a cruiser as i will be getting ) really i am downgradeing by quite a bit but my rideing style is better suited to a lardy semi touring bike + my girlfriend has been perstering me to get another cx as she is too ikkle to get on the transalp easyly (don't tell her i said that )
Anybody who is interested pm me, test drives perfectly fine upon agreed full cash price in my hand, no money no ride, i am not even remotely interested in anything but paper money + make sure your insured . Anyone without a full licence yet i can take for a go on the back no problem.
Let me know as its advertised elsewhere ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes<
