Youve gotta do somthin about that mudguard though. Not too hard to lop off i did the same to my sv a week ago

All you've gotta really is find a home for the indicators, and make a bracket for the number plate and plate light

Yeah- its the same engine and frame as the mito but I've been told that the engines detuned so I should get a lower top speed but faster acceleration. Hopefully the top speed will still be around 90 though. I haven't ridden it on the road yet cos I'm still saving for the insurance- I'm working over my easter holidays from college and I should have it on the road for when I start back. I've ridden it on private land though (round a warehouse) and I was impressed with the acceleration up to 40mph- but I've only ridden the suzuki gs125 I did my test on and a couple of clapped out dirtbikes- so anything will impress me. It was noticably faster than the cars I've driven though.

Cheers keen, the insurance was £750 TPFT, not bad considering the next lowest quote i got was £1100. Still wating on my policy though.

How much is your insurance gonna set you back?

I've only rang 2 companies so far, but the best was £323 TP and £418 TPFT. I'm not sure which to go for yet- I might just get TP insurance and buy a big f**k off chain as well!

I wouldn't risk it mate, only get TP insurance if you paid next to nothing for your bike. Otherwise, get TPFT (it could make £2000 difference in the cost of replacing your planet!)

yeah I agree- I'll have to budget carefully to afford that as well as the other stuff (clothing, tax), but I'd be pissed if it got nicked.

I'm with dod on that one, not worth it keen. Either save up for TPFT or get it on HP. Too much money at stake there.

What made you pic the planet anyway, seeing as this is a NSR site cant help but wonder why you didn't buy an NSR?

After I passed my test I realised stright away that it would have to be a 125 for the insurance and then a 2 stroke cos the 4 strokes are two slow (and mostly ugly). I then looked at all 125 strokers like the mito, RS and NSR but also TZR and RG. I had to rule out the RS and Mito cos they are too expensive and the TZR and RG are hard to find. So I leant towards the NSR and found this site, but while looking for a good example in the biketrader I saw the add for the Planet and it was only £1200- you get a pretty tatty NSR for that money (no offense to anyone). I looked into them and they seemed OK (mito engine and chassis) and I liked the styling so I went for it. I've only spent £40 on it even though it was sold as a damaged repairable and its all fixed and road-worthy.
I went on a bit there but basically I was looking for a good deal and something that I wouldn't be embarrassed to turn up at college on (having overtaken all my car-driving mates on the way there!).

I was going to get a planet as well.....they are a lot cheaper but I wanted a reliable bike that was quick, hence I bought an NSR cos at the end of the day the planet is a detuned mito with no fairings.....oh yeah don't leave it in the rain my m8 had one and the headlight lets in water and he normally keeps it in the garage but he fell asleep watching tv and there was a 15 minute shower which wrecked the bulbs in his headlight........

I am getting insurance on my NSR soon, was gonna get TPO I think you've made me reconsider but I dunno??? Its a lot of difference between TPO and TPFT from the companies I have been quoted by.......£400 TPO £800 TPFT.......17 years old, 1 yrs NCD, medium risk area, garaged........

One company did offer TPFT for £675, but after my phone call with them a month or so ago I don't really wanna get covered by them. It was one of the first companies I rang, and all I was really interested in at the time was Full Comp, so as I do I give all my details, blah, blah, blah, then my end quote......£2200 B*LLOCKS!!!

You could say I went a little mad at them, so I don't wanna ring up again coz they might have me blacklisted or hate my guts!! Ya never know do ya?!?!?!?!?!?!

I'll keep ringing round, anyone know of any decent websites where you can get online quotes??? (Computers can't talk back lol)

the NSR is undeniably faster, but detuned engines usually accelerate quicker (I've been told) and the planets top speed is still around 90mph- good enough for me. It'll do for my two year restricted period.
Oh yeah- I held out on mirrors thinking I could get third party ones cheaper, but it turns out the original ones are a few quid less!

They maybe less, but look at em!! You need some smaller ones that them they look so ugly!! On bikes you only legally have to have one mirror so why not get one of those nice looking little things that goes on your bar end??? Not brilliant visibility I know, but as they say, you should always look over your shoulder not use mirrors that often........sup to you tho.
