yeah on my way to work on my normal route and i was in a 40mph road and there was a taxi doin about 20 - 25 mph so i pulled out to over take him then while i was at the side of him he indicated and started to turn,
there was a turning but he was just pldding along at 20 - 25 mph and surely he shud have inidcatord earlier ?
he forced me right onto the wrong side of the road
if i crashed into him
who would be at blame?

There are two points to consider here:

Quote:
143: DO NOT overtake where you might come into conflict with other road users. For example

* approaching or at a road junction on either side of the road
* where the road narrows
* when approaching a school crossing patrol
* between the kerb and a bus or tram when it is at a stop
* where traffic is queuing at junctions or road works
* when you would force another vehicle to swerve or slow down
* at a level crossing
* when a vehicle is indicating right, even if you believe the signal should have been cancelled. Do not take a risk; wait for the signal to be cancelled.

and

Quote:
Turning right

155: Well before you turn right you should

* use your mirrors to make sure you know the position and movement of traffic behind you
* give a right-turn signal

* take up a position just left of the middle of the road or in the space marked for traffic turning right
* leave room for other vehicles to pass on the left, if possible.

156: Wait until there is a safe gap between you and any oncoming vehicle. Watch out for cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians. Check your mirrors and blind spot again to make sure you are not being overtaken, then make the turn. Do not cut the corner. Take great care when turning into a main road; you will need to watch for traffic in both directions and wait for a safe gap.
Remember: Mirrors - Signal - Manoeuvre

Of course, that is in the highway code which as everyone should know does not apply to taxis

Basically, if you were overtaking at a junction you really shouldn't have been, but equally he should have checked his mirrors and indicated before moving out.

I think this is right,

You can only overtake him if is is stationary or traveling at less than 10mph

If this is right then you are to blame as he was travelling faster than this..

I aint 100% sure though!!

That my friend is a lesson that could well save your life. If a car's poodling along at that speed, question why before you reach for the throttle. If there's anywhere he can go...pft...assume the bastar*s going to go there.

Talking about cabs and indicating...has anyone ever written to bmw and mercedes asking why the indicators never seem to work?

Don't even talk to me about cabs and indicating. That's what killed my ZXR400!

Taxi pulled into a bus stop (without indicating). Thinking they'd got a call or something, I proceeded to pass. As I was entering the blind spot, the taxi swung out in a U turn, without indicating or looking. Being a tad inexperienced at the time, I instictively veered right (obviously, wrong direction) whilst applying brakes. Bike hit driver's wing head on, I got thrown clear over the bonnet and the bike snapped back against the side of the car and fell over. The woman driving was very apologetic and admitted liability straight off, which was handy. She wanted to settle out of insurance until I told her the repair bill!! Laughing
