Halfords is stupidly overpriced, and the one in Oxford doesn't even have torque wrenches! Can anyone recommend a good place to go in Oxford for tools?

I would agree to a certain point. The Halfords 'professional' tools are as good as you could want and reasonably priced for the quality you are getting.

I heard a rumour that a lot of them are made by a company called Britool...if you want to see how much you pay for 'proper' quality tools search for torque wrenches on HERE! Wink

If you want to see REALLY expensive try THIS on for size.

Halfords doesn't look so bad now huh? You will only ever have to buy one torque wrench if you get a good un.

I thought Halfords was cheap, but I was in London last week and I saw the exact same brand of hi-melting point grease which sells for £4.99 in Halfords, going for £2.19!

I don't want to get cheap tools, but I don't want to pay over the odds for a few quality ones either Very Happy

While it's not in Oxford, I often use www.justoffbase.co.uk for tools.
Decent tools at decent prices generally, definitely reccomended. Free delivery on order over £50 if I remember.

Halford pro tools I've generally found to be good quality, though slightly over what you might pay for other similar stuff elsewhere.

I've seen torque wrenches in the branch out towards Botley, if that's the one you mean. I was in there fairly recently looking for a long bar to connect to an allen key set. Maybe they're out of stock?

Yes, that's the one. Maybe they are out of stock, as I looked pretty carefully. They don't have motorcycle headlight bulbs either...!

Great. I live in Marston so Cowley Road is right next to me - cheers!!

Also - G - thanks for the suggestion on the justoffbase website, I'll check it out.

PS I've discovered that ebay is bad value for tools, as I saw a set of Halfords spanners selling for £23 + £8 postage, which sell in Halfords for £25....d'oh!!

Are these too cheap? I don't know how much you need to pay for a decent torque wrench.
