Ok well some of you may have seen the thread a little while ago of my bike going through some small projects, well its got to the stage now where im getting bored of it basically so im near enough at the end of "Project GS500".

It was a decent day outside so i thought i would take a few pics, the quality is rubbish because it is taken with my phones camera and i dont have photoshop or anything on my laptop to tinker with them, but anyway... you get the rough idea...

How do you find the GS? Its a toss up between 1 of those and a er5 for my next bike, cant decide on which one. Confused

That one looks funkeh though.

Hehe thanks mate Thumbs Up

Well for me the GS is realy good value for what it is! Ive had a few problems with it, but thats purely due to the previous owner neglecting it. IMO Its a cheap run about bike which has the power/speed to keep up with most of the others on motorways and faster roads, with the ability to nip inbetween traffic around town aswell. It has to be one of the comfiest for pillions (as my girlfriend will back up Thumbs Up ). I get about 130miles to £10 of petrol which is around 11litres (full tank).

The problems i have found is that being naked you do get blown about a little bit, and being a GS500E... you dont look as good turning up (in most shallow peoples eyes Wink ) as say someone on a VFR400 or ZXR400... although i must say, i have had a lot of people come up to me and say they realy like my bike etc... because of the work i have done on it.

I cant comment on the ER-5 as i have never ridden one, but im sure if you speak to Instigator, you can get a good oppinion from him about them, as i believe he has only recently got rid of his Thumbs Up

Nice job mate Thumbs Up So what's your next project going to be?

My new brake fluid box turned up, but guess what - the fricken right hand screw was rusted to buggery, so I smashed the whole unit with a brick in anger. Twisted Evil

Chr!s, as far as the GS goes, I wanted an ER-5, but was won over by the GS' cheapness. As Method says, it's not the coolest bike in town (although it will still impress people who don't own better bikes), but it's cheap and cheerful and fast enough if your a newbie. I'm using it as a way to get used to riding bigger bikes and will probably sell mine before winter and get something better next year.

Well thats a good question, im quite pleased with how this has turned out, i was tempted to stay with the GS and maybe go bigger like a RGV Front end and USD forks... but i think the next project is going to be fitting an indicator relay... to get it through MoT... as the current one means the indicators are more like strobe lights Wink

Im still to attempt the front fluid resevoir... the screws are in such a state i dont think its worth trying to undo them, although i am in great need of some brake fluidness Wink

I think that sums it up pretty well. Im also looking at switching very soon, although i have to admit the GS does make a good winter hack... although i dont think i will still be on the GS by this winter, but you never know Thumbs Up

Currently on the Lookout for a ZXR400, but then again so is everyone and one thing i hate is jumping on a bandwagon... so maybe something different, like a CBR400 or i am being swayed by a lovely design called a supermoto Wink But with the milage i am planning to do over the summer, i dont think it would be the ideal choice. Smile
