Firstly apologise for the moaning about the VFR damage and insurance bollox, a lot of people were making me worried with talk of long winded insurance crap and my bike being written off.
Well yesterday I got a phone call from the girls insurers, a nice man ‘Andrew’ asked if I could get a quote from a place he would recommend, I said I already had a quote for the damage, so he said fax it over.
I faxed it, an hour later he calls saying he has priced my bike at £2200, and the work comes to a total of £1200, he called the garage to confirm this and another hour later he rang back.
He said the garage is sorting the parts, all I have to do it wait, take it in and wait around 4 hours for the work to be done.
I phoned the garage after, they are in the process of ordering the parts, to keep the cost down they had to leave the VFR original screen (annoying) but instead told me they told the insurers I had a Double Bubble on there (Um thanks).
So if all goes well the bike should look better than it did before the incident.
Thanks for the help and advice guys, I’ll let you know how it goes.

Killa

That's a poor excuse for having a go at the killa for what amounts to £100 worth of extras (the screen has to be replaced anyway).

The poor kid's just got the bike and as some of his posts have recently suggested, he's proud of it and consequently doesn't want anything untoward happening to it, unfortunately through no fault of his own it has and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

If he's in the position to receive a few quids worth of gear gratis then I certainly won't begrudge it, if it happened to the a lot of people on here then I'm sure they'd think twice before saying 'No thankyou, only repair what's necessary'.

Hi

Glad you got it sorted out. Very surprised they have been that generous and quick (normally they are gits and value the bike at pretty close to trade price).

See if you can keep the old panels.

It would not surprise me if the double bubble screen is actually cheaper than the original Honda one.

All the best

Keith

Cheers guys, I’ve been waiting 6 years for this bloody bike, in the colours to, I feel lucky and fortunate to have such a nice VFR I walk into my garage every morning with a smile on my face.
I have kept it maintained and polished as best I can, so some girl fails to look behind when moving backwards (not surprising), I asked as many questions as I could because one thing I hate is being left not knowing about things. Once I learned as much as I could, I used it to my advantage, as long as it makes her learn a lesson and gives me a near perfect bike, I’m happy.

Oh Keith, the orignal screen is close to £200
The double bubble is alot cheaper as you know.
The guys at the garage didnt want it written off either, i like that, shows theres some good in the world.

Of course they didn't want it written off! Then they would have missed out on £1200 worth of business Rolling Eyes

You said they were going to put an original screen on the bike, but then fitted a DoubleBubble. Did they tell the insurance company that's what did, or infact still bill them for the £200 original?

As some one posted above, insurance claims mean big money being spent, of the kind that very few people would ever pay out of their own pocket for such minor things. The garage must be pretty fucking happy right now.

I warned against getting diamond coated indicators!

Lets hope this all happens swiftly and the bike gets back to its original glory.
