hi all, basically i was wondering if you could clear something up for me.

Im 20 years old and would like to do my bike test, i know you have to be 21 for direct access but im not sure if i took my test etc in the summer now, then when im 21 in November can i ride full power?

I have riden bikes before for 2 years on cbt on 125, which is now out of date, and i have passed my bike theory last year.

Thanks

you'd need to re-do your CBT, your theory will be ok if you're doing your test this year. As far as i know you need to be 21 on or befor ethe day you sit your A (big bike) test, otherwise you'll need to sit the A2 (standard bike) option on a 125cc.

You could wait until November and do your direct access or you could just do your A2 just now, basically if you want to be restricted for 2 years or not, or wait another 6 months..

i would just get the A2 test over and done with, then if you fancy lifting the restriction you can do the accelerated test in November?!

You will need to redo the CBT unfortunately before you can do the DAS Sad

If you took the test when you are 20, you will still have to wait 2 years to ride a bike with more than 33bhp unless you do ANOTHER test when you are 21 called accelerated access which allows you to immediately ride derestricted bikes but you can only do this after you have your full licence.

It would be best to redo the CBT in the summer and do the DAS test when your 21.

Good luck with it. Thumbs Up

thanks mate Thumbs Up well i have had 2 years on a 125 and yeah i enjoyed it but i would prefer a 400 legally de-restricted, it really annoys me that i would have to wait 2 years if i did it now, that sucks big time! Thumbs Down

Do you have any idea off the top of your head the cost differences if i did A2 then the accelerated test, rather than the direct access?

i have never heard of the accelerated test!

The tests will cost the same, it's the training/bike hire that'll be different, and that's down to the school.

You may find if you book a CBT and bike training with a school you could get a good deal!

The place i was at offered the CBT free if you booked a DAS or intensive A2 course! sadly it was after i passed the offer came out!
