On my way home from work yesterday, in rush hour traffic, casually filtering, but not really pushing it. Got overtaken by a chap on a gixxer, but caught up with him in front of the traffic at the next set of lights.

Although I was in the better position to pull away, I hung back when the lights changed, so that he could zoom off. I wasn't in any real hurry to get home, and I'd had a fairly tiring day.

So, lights change, we're both revving up, he goes to zoom off, and catastrophe strikes.................

He stalls Very Happy

"I R Teh winnAr" chuckles I, and go to zoom off and show matie how it's done. Revs up, clutch out, and off I go, right?

Nope - I was in 2nd gear!

Revved it well up and managed to pull away, what a couple of wazzocks we must have looked to all the cagers we'd just filtered smugly past.

Once we'd both managed to actually get moving, we cut a fairly impressive sight howling down the road, but I'm not sure we were kidding anyone!

Guess that'll teach us both to try and be the big man.

Just like not realising you managed to get neutral rather than first. Revving the nuts off it and not going anywhere is a good reason for wearing a full face helmet. Laughing

Usually I've given it enough welly in 1st that by the time people notice I'm not accelerating because I've slipped it into neutral, I've managed to get the right cog into place and cracked on with getting the hell out of dodge.

First time I and as yet only time I have dropped my bike would be my most embarrassing moment yet.

I loaded it up with all the stuff I would need to go touring/camping for first time and hit the road for a bit of a test spin.

Every thing was going fine till I was getting back on after filling it up at the petrol station just after the M25 turn off on the A3.

I dropped the bike off the centre stand just like I always do and whent to kick my leg over...

And cleanly slotted my foot through the handle of the bag I had over the back seat where it stuck fast

So here I am off balance one foot on the ground one wedged firmly 4 foot in the air with no way to free it and I am like this for a good 45 seconds before I completely lose balance and just had to lay the bike down.

Fortunately I was able to set it down gently so only ended up bending the gear lever but I did it in front of a queue of cars and a coach load of day trippers in a packed station forecourt.

Just in case the biker that helped me pick my bike back up is a BCFer thank you for your help about 6 weeks ago.

And to all the cagers that asked me to move my bike or just plane walked around me giggling Middle Finger
