Hi

Some may remember a story of a retired engineer who was challanging the accuracy of the Gatso cameras due to the variable timing of the flashes.

Seems that he missed his day in court, so the police went and kicked his door down and dragged him to their car and back to the police station (via the hospital as he stopped breathing on the way):-

Wonder what is really going on.

All the best

Keith

Bloody hell! Shocked I can't believe they just ignored his complaints, and refused to identify the officers involved, and refused his case!

The more cases there are like that of police officers abusing their authority, even if they are the minority, the less and less people will respect them. That kind of thing makes me angry. It doesn't appear to be such a minority as we'd hope, the number of reports of police brutality you hear. Evil or Very Mad

We're going down the route of a police state ffs! Tony Blair must be making Margaret Thatcher proud! Neutral

It's easy to make rash judgements without knowing all the facts, but that does indeed seem very very dodgy Thumbs Down

Btw, interesting page on his site about getting photographic evidence from a gatso _before_ deciding whether or not to fight it in court: https://www.notsoaccurate.com/Page%2020.htm

Having read all of his website (which really is worth it) I think it's fair to say that there is a significantly bent system in place to commit multi-million pound fraud against the motorist. The only problem is, it's the government (local and national), the judiciary system and police forces. They're a bit difficult to prosecute. Confused

Just read through the entire website. This is turning into way more than someone trying to get off a speeding fine. There is a bbc documentary in the making as well.

Yes. It looks very dodgy.

Please, however, try to be objective. This looks to be a site with a degress of bias - giving you the opposite level of stats-twisting as the authorities give out in favour of the speed cameras.

Would you say that included the police harrassment?

More than likley. I'm not saying the site is all lies, I'm just saying it does not have an objective view on the situation - and can leave out or misstell various facts in favour of its cause. Much like the authorities probably do in favour of speed cameras.

Everyone seems to be replying saying "shocking" and "oh gosh" - whereas any stats by the authorities seem to be disregarded as crap. Even though both sources of information are likley to have significant bias applied to them.
