WEll, It's that time of year where I'm going through all my documents and tutting at the dates on them - it seems that it's 11 months almost to the day since I had my bike taxed and MOT'd.
The bike needs £100 work doing to the head bearings, to make the bike MOTable, and this throws a slight spanner (and a few BIG torque wrenches complete with an assortment of sockets) in the works.
I'm starting work on tuesday, and my days off will be wednesday and sunday, which is okayish, but the mechanics don't open on sunday . To make matters worse, I get paid for the entire first month of work on the 26th, leaving me only four days to get the bike fixed, taxed and MOT'd - and the only wednesday before tax runs out is the 29th....
I've just found my MOT cert, and the MOT doesn't expire till 31st of july - can I still tax the bike or will i need a new 12 month MOT certificate to do this?
My only method of travel to work is the bike - if I have to take the bike off road i won't be able to get to work !!!
There's fines to the left of me, taxes to the right and here i am stuck in the middle with an akward problem .
My head is spinning - please help!! . ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/nsrandy/96rs250/ My Bike!

If you tax it when you get the renewal through (online takes 5 minutes), then you won't need a new MOT certificate to tax it, as the previous one will be valid when you get the new vehicle licence. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Yep. You can get it taxed two weeks before the tax runs out, without worrying about the MOT. Getting it fixed for the MOT is then the only problem. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Should be able to book it in for work to be done (change head bearings might be about 2-3 hours work) then have its MOT at same time.
To get around having to replace the head bearings, you could always loosen off the head stock bit with a c spanner. Would have worked for me if I had the brains. Is there no way you can spray them with wd40? Jordan said he could do that to his and they would be fine for a couple of hours |
