Riveting a Chain

[Crash it for fun]

Hi

Just received my new chain and sprockets from david silver spares. I'm set to actually fit them to my '02 Hornet Sunday but I have a couple of probably simple questions.

I have a riveting tool that came with virtually no instructions. When I have removed the unwanted links from the new chain (10 links too long) how much do I crush the pins on the master link? Is it just until it bends out enough to the side plate? How much force does it take ruin the pin (crack it or whatever)?

Any advice or warning points would be very helpful

youd have to have the strength of king kong to bust the chain lol

just make sure the edges of the pins are nicely folded over the plate and none of it moves about.
