With a description of what happened, Was it your fault? Did you learn something?

Here is mine:

Early March this year, going out on a cold morning, cold tyres+damp salty road markings. Too much throttle and away it went. I remember thinking it was going to low-side because it was nearly laid down to the right, then bike and me were launched skywards. So my fault really. What did I learn? No-one is infallible.

Done in october 2004, lorry pulled out on me on an island, i promptly jumped off and the lorry hit it.

Lesson learned: jumping off was a good idea otherwise i'd have hit the lorry, (something i was told to do when i did motocross). and that to get eye contact with drivers at junctions/roundabouts.

A few hundred quid later it looked like this, then it was sold as i bought another RS.

Cold tyres, low sided on a roundabout.

Fixed with 2 new bars, new lever and a street fighter headlight.

I've since started taking it easy with the knee down especially if the conditions aren't perfect.

From my point of view, the accident consists of waking up in the road and not having a clue even what month it was and being unable to move my arm, but apparently (according to the driver) I pulled out vaguely in front of them and lost it (on gravel or by being caught out by the rapidly approaching vehicle from the blind spot or what I dunno). I'd been riding for less than a week.

The main damage was to the tank from my knee. Everything else was pretty much just scrapes and scratches.

However..

Snapped off radial styloid. Swollen to buggery.

https://www.bikechatforums.com/download.php?id=5452

Fractured the top end too.

Two months later with a screw in it. Slightly smaller without the swelling and with the muscle atrophy.

It taught me not to ride like a twat.

From what I have been told I was coming around a corner to find a car stopped in the road, The result was:

and

Plus I had a metal plate in my hand, But no decent pictures coz it was plastered up.

Unfortunatly I haven't got any pictures of my old moped. It was written off by some 81 year old bloke who was blind in his right eye.

I broke my leg in 2 places and needed 3 operations and a pin and a plate. I was very lucky not to loose a leg. I just have a massive scar now.

Overall I was very lucky.

Back in 1999 passed a van at a crossing to go straight over (my right of way).
An old lady had come out into the road for a ‘look’.
Bang, 45mph into the side of the car.
Minor injuries, gravel rash, damaged knee, bike was fcuked

Haven't had a serious crash yet *touches wood*, and hopefully won't have one for a long time yet. Had one in January, that smashed my moped up a bit, but didn't take pics of it. Since then I have taken it easy *cough cough*, and been a careful driver. Yeah right! Once I get my LC on the road though, I'm going to be so careful with that.
