the NSR would be a bad eample for parallel and grey imports, Because the NSR is only sold in europe

Take an R1. You have your Uk R1, that gets you your 2 years manufacturers warrenty and MPH clocks.

Then you've got R1s from the rest of the EU that will pass emissions laws and are a bit cheaper but you dont get a warrenty or MPH clocks

Grey imports come from every where else (mainly east asia or america) Theres emission laws, taxes..That'll all add to the OTR price of the bike. So Grey imports are mainly models that arnt sold in Europe like the NSR150, Bandit 400 or SV400 but you dont see many of them.

Hope that clears it up for ya Hop off

Legally you do get a warrenty, of a minimun of 1year. The people responsible for that warrenty are the people who brought it into Europe, so for an R1 coming from Italy that could be Belgarda, the Italian Yamaha importer

All the best

Well I have just done some sums and had a word with my dad, and next payday in exactly 4 weeks time - I could get an NSR!

But, I see no point in getting a UK bike really. The reasons for this are:

It will be restricted for quite a while
The dealers round here are crap
The resale value is not much different from a UK bike
If I bought it through Taz Motorcycles, I get a year warranty and MPH clocks

i went to matlock motors yesterday and had a look at the bikes. they had a brand new 2001 model for £2999. on there price sheet it says that all the bikes are uk spec with mph clocks. however when i talked to the sales guy he says that the nsr's are bitches to derestrict and that made me wonder if the bike really is uk spec? he also had a rs125 2001 for £2999.

Most of the magazines say that it's a pain to derestrict, and I guess that it is compared to other bikes...

From what I have gathered, most other bikes are just restricted in one part of the bike, e.g. the exhaust, powervalve etc...but the NSR has at least two places, the intake AND exhaust...

If you think that the guide on NSR125.com is straigtforward, then you don't need to worry about what anyone else thinks...I think that removing the intake restrictor will freak most people out though...

I think that's right anyway...
