Okay I keep seeing bikes im interested in but they are always the wrong colour (I'm looking for black) so I was thinking there's not much bodywork on a bike that takes paint, how easy is it to get a respray and what would it cost eg unfaired bike?

Or is this a stupid idea that the insurance co and the dvla will start going mental? Confused

IMO You shouldnt base what bike you buy on the colour for a start.

The DVLA shouldnt have any problems with you changing the colour of the bike, as long as you declare it to them (using the V5, i think)

I know it's shallow but colour means a lot to some people. My bike comes in about 5 different colours but I would not have bought it if the colour wasn't right. It had to be either blue or black.

I know somwone that will re-spray all the plastics on a bike for £350.

With your bike though Zoffo, with the money you're spending to get one, you can afford to be picky about colour.

Why?

Bikes a bike, if you're set on a particular bike why not be set on the particular colour that you want. It's out there somewhere, you just gotta find that particular bike in good condition in the particular colour you want.

You gotta live with the bike, gotta be happy with it.

Hence why I spending ages trying to find the exact colour car I want Embarassed I know the exact one just can't find it Laughing

Not so. I'd be suprided if there's many people on this forum that owe more money than me. But I figure, life in the black isn't that bad if your engoying youself.

Colour can grow on you, that's why I wouldn't base my entire purchase on a colour scheme if everything else was right.

I actively dislike Kawasaki green but if everything else was a bargain I'd try and live with it. Ditto I think most race reps look a mess, but if everything else was sound, I'd deal with it. Wasn't keen on the colour of my bike when I bought it but now I love it. Haven't given a stuff about the colour of any of the second hand cars I've bought, they've mostly been manky shades of red. Ended up reasonably fond of all of them.

why paint? , go buy parts from a breaker or ebay you can usually find some cheap parts (might need some Tcut) , my bike started life black and probably by the end of the week swapping parts out (ie cheapo plastic panels) it will be mostly red

That's very true. I bought a Urban Tiger NSR125 for my first bike. I didn't really like the colour of it at all, but it was the only NSR going up here that I could find. Now that I look back on it, the colour scheme was really cool! Cool
