been looking at bandit 400's - was thinking of getting one.

How do you rate it ? acceleration ? mpg ? top speed ? cruising speed ? power there or the time throughout the revs or you have to go searching for it ? any good with a pillion ? whats your insurance on it ?

Anything else you can think of would be great cheers

I had a Bandit 400 and it was a great little bike through the summer. Winter on the other hand was a nightmare. It hated the cold & rain & was so unreliable it tainted my view of them. Keep it serviced though & i'm sure you'll have more luck than me. I always thought they looked better than the 600's aswell.

I like it..

it's perfect for me as a first big bike, not too heavy taht i struggle with it, nor ir is too light that i get blown about.

Acceleration is pretty good, what i expected from a 400, once it gets over 8k you've got to hang on Laughing

mpg, well i think i get about 50mpg or more, i'll need to fill it up do about 100miles and fill it up again to make sure.

top speed, well i had an indicated 110mph with some revs to go and another gear..

The power is there most of the time but doesn't really do much until after 8k- saying that sitting at 60mph in 6th you can just roll the throttle back and it'll ease it's way up without too much problem, don't need to drop a gear to overtake unless you're whoring it round the twisties of course.

cruising speed, well i do about 60mph at 6k, 70mph at 7k, 80mph at 8k etc etc.. i'm always looking for another gear, it's just quite revvy.

As far as pillions go i've only had one mate on but it's pretty good, more stable if anything, the brakes just take a beating.

my insurance for my TS125R was £308 with only a CBT, my insurance for the Bandit is £360 with full license for 4 days, no NCB.

Starts first time everytime, i havn't had any problems with it yet apart from an over-tensioned chain.. not much more i can tell you yet as i've only had it about a week.

Only bad thing I hear about them is when they go boom (and they all will) around the 20,000 mile mark.

Lovely looking bike in the pictures Shocked Very Happy Thumbs Up
