Just generally annoying things such as missing/different bolts and screws or little scratches on the paint.
Though one time (this is quite a long story ) my friend took his Runner to the dealer when it wouldn't start after sitting a few months. He told them he just wanted to know what was wrong and then decide on what he should do. Well, they "assessed" the bike and gave him a phone call a few days later, telling him that around 9 parts had to be replaced and the total cost would be $1,300. He was naturally quite shocked and had to figure out where he would get the money. Well, they went ahead and fixed everything for free...
Yeah right , they fixed it all without him giving them the go-ahead and then called him back to tell him his bike was ready for him to pay for and pick-up. I went to the dealer with him to help sort it out and we were both met with extremely dodgy behaviour from the guy behind the desk. For example, he wouldn't allow my friend to take home a copy of the listed work done, only look at it in the shop. He was then really offended when I called him out on gaskets and seals costing over $100 combined. In the end my friend had to get his dad to pay for it and was given a cost break on the labour and only had to pay for the parts. Yet the thing is, the parts they replaced couldn't have possibly been in bad shape.
They replaced the carburator, air filter box, oil pump, variator and rear clutch, belt and a few smaller things. But there's no way that a bike SITTING IN A SHED for 4 months would suffer damage to those parts listed.
Told him not to go to the dealer... |
