Thumbs Up to the new Highlights section. Already found a couple of interesting topics in these I might have missed. Probably good for people who only check the forum occasionally.

I assume it is automatic based on the karma of the thread? If so does the posting rules thread need to be there seeing as you can't post directly in there anyway?

Would you ever consider doing a weekly or monthly newsletter email (opt-in/opt-out)? In principle it seems spammy but theones that I do get (VD and a rock climbing forum), I always end up going to read the threads they suggest.

It's based on thread ratings yes. The rules thread appears on every single listing, so it's not actually a 'highlight' as such. Monthly newsletter is a possibility at some point, would have to see how it goes. Getting to the stage where there's certainly enough good content going up to make one worthwhile Thumbs Up

Korn, I notice you have put the 'hover over preview' in the highlights section.

Any chance you could do the same to 'view new posts' too? Praying

Thumbs Up to the higlights section too, it's like the 'lite version' of bcf in a way for me as it saves time for me trundling through each forum when really I want to read the good stuff, obviously I could still miss bits but it helps!

Kudos to Mr Korn! Karma

Monthly newsletter?

What on earth would that include? How bugsy posted up pictures of licking his own balls? The initiation highlights for the "reading clique"? Bendy's pictures of wave2k in non chav clothes at the latest ride-out?

Sorry, just wondering what on earth it could include....Confused

But to be honest...do you REALLY only click on the topics that have a green symbol beside them? Not everyone uses the karma system as much as what you'd hope.

Use a little imagination mate. It could feature the best threads of the month. And I don't mean the ones with the highest karma, just the best bike/BCF related ones picked by Korn or whoever. People like us could opt out of it seeing as we are on the board pretty regularly anyway. It would probably bring back the sort of people who register then only post a few times. I'm a member of a couple of boards that I don't have the time or desire to visit very often, but when I get the newletter I usually pop back to read the recommended threads.

Who said the REALLY only click on the topics with a green symbol? Confused Usually the green topics are the most interesting/insightful posts. Perhaps the "funny" rating needs to have less karma influence as I do notice that alot of the highlights threads are "funny" ones that aren't necessarily the highest quality threads around.

Anyway I just know that as soon as I checked on highlights for the first time I found a few quality threads that I might not have noticed otherwise. It's probably best for the sort of person who only checks the forum once a week or so. If you don't like it, son't click it. Thumbs Up

Old Thread Alert!

The last post was made 18 years, 316 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful?
