On my dirt bike there are 4 gears.

1st gear is far too quick, soon as your foot leaves the floor its time for second. there is no need for it, you can pull away from stand still in 2nd gear just fine.

Also this is a 110cc and in forth it does 40mph, and thats pretty poor if you ask me, the engine is screaming for an another gear.

so how do I exchange the harshness of 1st for abit more top end?

Sounds like someone's mucked about with the sprockets. What bike is it and can you tell what number of teeth are on each sprocket?

nah no nes mucked about with it, its brand new. thats just how it is. i havnt looked inside yet

its geared for off road!

add a tooth on the front sprocket and it should hit 60 or so.
