Hi

I'm going to look at a Honda CLR 125 City fly tonight.
This will be my first geared bike, has anyone got any information about them?

Are they reliable?

Is it suitable for me as a learner bike for 6 months before I get a proper bike?

Its a 1999 reg with 8k on the clock its a 4 stroke so I presume it has plenty of life left in it?

What should I look out for?

btw i posted a message yesterday asking the same but for some reason its been deleted.

Thanks

It's a Honda, so don't worry about reliability. They may as well be made out of granite. Just look for things like frame bending, wheel alignment, any smoke from the exhaust (not white as this is usually condensation in the 'zorst) Generally, you can go on visual condition as well. The Cityfly should be capable of around 65-70 (down a hill) and is a great city bike, with 100 MPG or so.

You are unlikely to encounter mechanical damage, only accident damage. So look out for the aforementioned frame damage etc.

And yes, it should have another 30,000 miles in it quite happily.
