(As posted in the photo forum)

Ok hit a glitch.

The engine is not an RV4 item. This was obvious when I went to fit the new crank and barrel. It was also obvious when I looked at the 'Minarelli RV6 AP' writing.

What's going on?? What is the RV6 AP and why is it in my bike?

Hi

It would not surprise me if the "4" and "6" refer to the number of gears on the engine. Aprilia swapped the engine quite regularly.

All the best

Keith

The barrel and crank are completely different though.

The RV6 parts seem alot better aswell :S For starters, the standard barrel is a nice alu barrel (coated bore), where as the Metrakit RV4 barrel is 3x as heavy.

Also on the RV6 I have, theres 3 crank bearings. 1 on the lft, 2 on the right. The 2 on the right are seperated by the crankseal.

hey man glad to hear someone else has got a good old af1 50.
this may sound realy bad but youre gonna have alot of problems getting anything for the bike im afraid to say it will become an ongoing problem best bet is probably to tart it up get it running and sold and run with the money im affraid to say as youre looking at alot of money for spares and are getting more and more scarce

Yeah Sad

I really want to get this thing running, well its not a case of wanting it running, I NEED it to get to work.

Im not overly fussed about the parts becoming hard to get, im well trained in the art of 'bodge' Rolling Eyes

I dont suppose it would be possible to mount the AM6 (RS50) engine into the frame? With a few home made mountings etc.

with the af1 being a single sided swinging arm, do you think the RV6 AP would fit in the rs 50 extrema? These are single sided but the AM6 wont fit in the frame.
