Weird Noises

When i pull off in first i hear a really strange noise by the front sprocket. Like a weird rattle or something. Its only when i pull away. Anybody know what it is. I think the chain is ok but not sure. Thanks

perhaps the chain is a little overtight?

get some WD40 in there to see if something hasnt dried out.

Worst case is the output shaft bearing.

Cheers Bish, i had a look in the manual and i had been tightening the chain the wrong way. I measured the chain between 30-40mm from standing instead of the slack.

dont use wd40 tho mate, use chain lube or some kind of 3 in 1 (or 6 in 1) oil.

Wd40 will loosen it but will dry it out evan more than it may be now.

As for lubing the chain you can use the following:

1) light oil 3in1 or similiar. Penetrates well but flings off easily.

2) Engine oil, doesnt penetrate so will but doesnt fling so easily.

3) Chain lube spray, penetrates ok, doesnt fling as much but is dear

4) Chain wax spray, hardly flings but im not sure of its penetrating properties.

I personally liberally coat with 3in1 oil, allow it to drip mostly dry, wipe off the excess then coat with chain wax.
