Help deristricting aprilia AF1 Futura 1991

Hi, the bike is from Germany and horribly slow ... help on derestricing it or helping to make it a bit faster would be very much appreciated!

I think on the AF1 they just leave the power valve disconnected to restrict them, so you just need to hook up the pv to make it full power.

A mate of mine had one about 10 years ago so I'll ask him if he remembers what needs doing.

mine was resitrcted by having no power valve and a blanking plate over the cyclinder. have heared that a early RS125 power valve will fit.

UK ones were restricted by having a blanking plate instead of the power valve (still got the blanking plate in the garage). However I don't think German ones were restricted in the same way (although they were quoted over there at 27~28hp, for insurance purposes, not sure if they did any actual changes).

Guess would be that someone has restricted it when they imported it to the UK, or that the power valve is just all gummed up.

You should have the power valve above the exhaust port, a cable going from that to the operating solonoid on one of the frame rails, that then plugs into the main loom, and under the seat you should find the power valve control unit. You need to first check that they are all there. After that take the valve out and clean it.

Keith, the bike itself is in Germany, along with Bonbeurr. Its restricted to 50mph at the moment due to stupid German 125 laws. lilredmachine's MZ is also restricted to 50mph I believe.

Ah, right. The German 80kmh restriction. To be honest I do not know how these were restricted. I understood that these were normally a speed rather than a power restriction, but without seeing the bike in detail I am not sure.

Doubt they bothered to fit the power valve.
